Even though we’re an ATV web site, just about all things off-road are of interest to us. One thing we saw that we were eager to share was a new off-road wheelchair.

With the goal of providing affordable transportation to disabled people in developing countries, MIT PhD student, Amos Winter developed what he calls the Leveraged Freedom Chair (LFC). Check out two videos of the LFC below the jump.

Traditional wheelchairs are at their best on paved surfaces or indoors, but they are not meant for much off-road use. Unfortunately, many people in developing countries who need a wheelchair don’t live anywhere near paved roads, so they have to travel over dirt roads and other obstacles that just aren’t passable with a normal wheelchair.

Fantasy sports leagues have been popular for years, with football and baseball leading the way. Now ATV racing fans have a league of their own on OffRoadFantasy.com.

The web site has launched its first two off-road racing fantasy leagues for 2010, with leagues for the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country ATV and Bike Series.

Scott has teamed up with OffRoadFantasy.com to give Scott Rewards certificates to the first 250 entries, and to provide a pair of Scott NoSweatXi goggles to the winners from week one. The race takes place this weekend, so players are encouraged to sign up now.

First responders in Jackson County, Alabama have recently received training on ATVs.

The training course was led by a 4-H program called “Fit to Ride” and it taught first responders ATV safety. After training, first responders will now act as instructors.

Some of the people that took the safety and trailing course plan on going out to the public to pass on the knowledge through classes and seminars on ATV safety.

ATV freestyler Derek Guetter makes his living pulling off tricks on his ATV that most of us wouldn’t even consider. We showed you his first successful backflip on at ATV in a previous post. Unfortunately, we now have to show you his first unsuccessful backflip.

Guetter was in Indianapolis for the Nuclear Cowboyz tour when things didn’t go quite as planned. Guetter was getting the crowd amped up with a variety of tricks before he planned to wow them with his signature backflip. This time, however, Guetter came up short on the landing and crashed. Check out the video after the jump.
