Video Game Review – ATV Offroad Thunder

Who says nothing in life is free? We ran across yet another free on-line ATV video game called ATV Offroad Thunder.

This is kind of a racing/freestyle hybrid game. The goal is to finish each level before your time expires and get enough points to qualify for the next level. The way you get points is to pull off big tricks – jumps, flips, and seven signature tricks. The more tricks you successfully pull off, the more points you get.

You start the game with only one ATV choice and three signature tricks. As you pass levels, more tricks and more ATVs are unlocked.

We found the gameplay took some getting used to because you have to use a lot of the keyboard to take full advantage of all the tricks. Moving is fairly straight forward – just use the arrow keys. But to pull off a trick you have to hit a number key (1,2,3,4,5,6,7). To get more speed you can hit the turbo (‘Z’ key) and to get more air off each jump you hit the spacebar. That’s a lot to remember when you’re playing a game at work and looking over your shoulder so you don’t get caught.

Graphics are not bad for a free game, but don’t expect a lot of variety. Using our painstaking ranking system, We’ll give ATV Offroad Thunder 3.5 out of a possible 4 ATV tires.
