McGill, Fowler neck and neck in XC1 standings

The 2015 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series returns to action this weekend following a three-month break over the summer. New York’s Unadilla Raceway hosts round 10 of the 13-race series with the Parts Unlimited Unadilla GNCC and only one point separates Adam McGill and Walker Fowler in the XC1 Pro ATV championship chase.

CST/PirateMX.com/LSR/DeRisi/Tireblocks/SG rider Adam McGill currently holds the overall points lead over N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar rider Walker Fowler. McGill suffered mechanical issues and finished ninth in the previous AMSOIL Snowshoe GNCC round, allowed Fowler to close the points lead to just one point. Fowler claimed the top spot on podium at last year’s Unadilla round.

N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar’s Walker Fowler has been McGill’s biggest competition this season and holds four overall victories in the first nine rounds. With the exception of round five where he went scoreless in the championship standings, Fowler has been a consistent threat with seven podium finishes behind him.

JMR/ATVRiders.com-backed Jarrod McClure still holds onto the third-place spot in the championship point standings, but comes into this round fresh off his first ever GNCC overall win at the previous round on top of Snowshoe Mountain.

Going into the previous round Maxxis/B. Neal Motorsports’ Brycen Neal found himself tied for fourth place in the standings, but after three consecutive top five finishes he vaulted himself to claim the current fourth place in the championship standings.

Team Maxxis’ Chris Borich holds the fifth place position. While Borich still remains winless in the 2015 season, this will ultimately work as motivation for the defending series champion to return to his winning ways.

Bithell Racing/Maxxis/Precision’s Chris Bithell sits back in sixth following a few unfortunate mechanical issues this season.

Following an incredible performance at Snowshoe, Fasttrax/Wolf Racing’s Brian Wolf sits eighth in the championship standings, followed by Coastal/Waynesburg Yamaha backed Jay Shadron in ninth and GBC/Yamaha/HMF’s Johnny Gallagher rounds out the top ten overall heading into the tenth round.

In the XC2 Pro Am class, N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar’s Cole Richardson once again claimed the win at the Snowshoe GNCC, further extending his class points lead. The battle for second place continues to heat up as RYCO Racing rider Cody Collier is just seven points ahead of New York’s Martin Christofferson in class point standings.

The 4×4 Pro division has hosted some of the most exciting four-wheeled battles of the year with Bryan Buckhannon, Kevin Trantham and Michael Swift constantly swapping out the center-step of the podium at each round. Can-Am rider Buckhannon has been the most consistent riders in the division thus far, never finishing off the podium. But Team UXC Racing/Factory Polaris’ Trantham has four wins under his belt, and is tied with his teammate Swift for second in the points championship going into this round.
