As a card-carrying Canadian and ATV enthusiast it warms my northern heart when these two worlds collide. Yamaha Canada recently put together a promotional video that did just that.

You won’t be seeing any slick production here – in fact this video may have been edited on a Commodore 64 – but you’d be hard-pressed to find a funnier way to promote an ATV sale and accessory winch.

I’d give you a full synopsis of the commercial, but I wouldn’t want to ruin the suspense. Just click and enjoy the show.

This may surprise you, but you don’t have to be particularly smart to be a thief. The latest example of this comes from a story we found in the Daily Press.

An 18-year-old Ashland, Wis. man broke into a storage garage which contained, among other things, an ATV. He apparently tried to move a trailer loaded with some heavy objects to get at the ATV when the tongue of the trailer gave out and his legs got trapped underneath.

The would-be thief then called his mother for help, but she couldn’t get into the building because it was still locked. After what we can only imagine was a good deal of mulling over options, the pair decided to call the police.

“I can honestly say I don’t think in my 25 years that I’ve had a would-be criminal trap themselves and call for help,” Ashland County Police Lieutenant Greg BeBeau told the Daily Press.

After a quick trip to the hospital to get his injuries treated the incompetent criminal was incarcerated for violating his probation.

Finally we have proof positive that Bigfoot does exist!

Let’s paint a little picture for you. A young man decides to take his ATV for a ride up a river while a friend records the experience for posterity. Of course this is no ordinary man. Like Superman himself, this rider is indestructible. No need for a helmet and proper riding gear. Shorts, T-shirt, sneakers and a backwards baseball cap is all the protection he needs. We should all be so lucky.

Meanwhile, as the river ride is taking place the normally aloof Bigfoot decides to take a leisurely stroll across the water, seemingly unaware and unthreatened by the oncoming ATV. It all makes perfect sense.

As luck would have it, Bigfoot is so far in the distance that he’s a little tough to make him out in the video. Still, we’re pretty sure this is the proof we’ve all been waiting for. After all, the ATV rider does point at him and seems genuinely surprised.

All those people who have been mocking me for my undying belief in Bigfoot are surely eating their words now. My next high school reunion is going to be so awesome!

We’re not quite sure what it is about ATVs, nudity, and Canada, but we’ve seen our second story in three months that involves all three.

It seems a man in a small town in rural Saskatchewan ran naked in front of a woman operating a road grader at a work site. He returned a short time later riding an ATV and wearing only a helmet and proceeded to ride circles around the unimpressed woman.

The man was later arrested for his stupidity…but at least he was bright enough to wear a helmet. We’re guessing when he goes ATVing with his friends in the future they won’t be too eager to borrow his ride. We don’t care how much you wash it…that seat is now a bio-hazard.

The best part about this strange story are the comments it received. Glad to see our neighbors to the north have a good sense of humor.

Most of us who ride ATVs have tried to do something on a quad that we probably shouldn’t have. Sometimes we get lucky and all goes well, but other times we crash or get stuck or even get hurt. Usually it’s just a couple of friends that are around to see you get embarrassed, but sometimes – thanks to video cameras and the Internet – the whole world gets to watch you screw up again and again. This is one of those examples.

The video starts off innocently enough – just a guy riding an ATV up a hill. As the climb continues, the front end of the ATV lifts off the ground and the rider scoots off the back and lands on his feet. While the rider is fortunately unhurt, we can’t say the same about his ATV. The quad starts to descend the hill, picking up speed and flipping uncontrollably. It’s shocking how fast it’s going and how high it flies it the air. It’s quite a sight to behold.
