Outlanders win three classes on GNCC circuit

When it came to 4X4 racing on the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) circuit in 2007, the Can-Am X-Team set the standard.

Can-Am X-Team riders dominated the classes, topping the points standings in 4X4 Open, 4X4 Limited and 4X4 Lites.

“Amazing success is just about the best way to describe it,” says BRP’s ATV marketing director Bernard Guy. “Every year we set out to win championships and this year it all came together. From the racers to the mechanics to the team owners, everyone involved in the racing program was committed to winning.”

Can-Am X-Team racer Rick Cecco fought off fellow Can-Am rider Bryan Buckhannon to win the 4X4 Open class aboard his Outlander 800 HO.

“It feels great to be in a battle all season long and come out with a championship,” says Cecco.

Scott Kilby and Jacob Kirst, also riding for Can-Am, finished third and fourth respectively. Can-Am riders won 12 of 13 races in the 4X4 Open class in 2007.

Can-Am X-Team rider Michael Swift ran over the competition in the 4X4 Limited class, winning 11 of 13 races aboard an Outlander 800.

Can-Am’s Cliffton Beasley won 10 of 13 races on an Outlander 500 on his way to winning the 4X4 Lites class. Beasley was followed by fellow Can-Am racer Jeremy Dudding, who finished second. Beasley and Dudding took the top two spots on the podium in nine of 13 races in 2007.
