McGill, McClure complete XC1 podium

Two weeks after a mechanical issue knocked him out of the muddy Limestone 100 GNCC, Walker Fowler faced dry and dusty conditions on his way to victory this weekend at the Dunlop Tomahawk GNCC in Odessa, NY, Round 6 of the 2015 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country series.

When the green flag flew, Bithell Racing/Maxxis/Precision’s Chris Bithell jumped out front to claim the $250 AMSOIL XC1 Pro Holeshot Award and the early lead. Championship points leader CST/PirateMX.com/LSR/DeRisi/Tireblocks/SG’s Adam McGill took over the lead on lap two while Fowler (N-Fab/AmPro/Maxxis/Lonestar Yamaha) worked his way through the pack, coming from as far behind as eighth place on the opening lap. After Fowler took the lead on lap four, McGill held on to finish the day in second place.

JMR/ATVRiders.com Jarrod McClure came away with his third podium finish of the year, rounding out the overall podium in third. After suffering a crash on the final lap of the race, Bithell was able to claim fourth place.

Fasttrax/Wolf Racing’s Brian Wolf had another impressive ride finishing fifth overall. Wolf currently sits eighth in the championship standings. BNR/GBC backed Kevin Yoho finished a season best sixth place ahead of Maxxis/B. Neal Motorsport’s Brycen Neal.

Showhauler/Maxxis/Cycle Barn’s Landon Wolfe finished a solid eighth place in the XC1 Pro class ahead of Maxxis/BNR/Moose rider Josh Merritt in ninth place while Coastal/Waynesburg Yamaha Jay Shadron rounded out the top 10.

Team Maxxis’ Chris Borich looked to be in contention for the overall win throughout the entire race until he experienced mechanical issues less than two miles from the finish on the last lap. He was able to get his machine back on the track to finish the race in 12th place.

The XC2 Pro Am class saw a new winner emerge at the inaugural Tomahawk GNCC. RYCO Racing’s Cody Collier came away victorious in New York, and put an end to N-Fab AmPro Yamaha/Maxxis/Lonestar-backed Cole Richardson’s win streak. Richardson was running strong until mechanical issues ended his day early.
