King of the Hammers on Spike TV
World's toughest off-road race comes to the small screen
Story by Staff, Jun. 26, 2009
Off-road racing fans can watch what is being heralded as the toughest one day off-road race in the world from the comfort of their living rooms. The 2009 King of the Hammers race will be featured on Spike TV’s Extreme 4x4 on June 27 and 28 at 12:30 pm ET.
Xtreme 4x4 host Ian Johnson joined the 92 drivers in the desert on Feb. 26-27, 2009 to see man and machine compete against The Hammers at Johnson Valley OHV in California. The two day battle has been whittled down to 30 minutes of action packed racing. Viewers will see some of the top racers, including this year’s King Jason Scherer. Also featured are Casey Currie, Rick Mooneyham, Adam Woodlee and the 2008 King of the Hammers winner Shannon Campbell.

This is a great chance to see the amazing pieces of machinery that are specially built just for this race. Racers and their crews talk about working to create vehicles with the perfect 4x4 mix of desert racing and rock crawling.
“It was great to work with the entire Extreme 4x4 staff,” says event promoter Dave Cole. “They have an amazing ability of capturing the energy of an event and delivering it to the audience.”
