Five $3,000 scholarships to be awarded in July

A scholarship fund has been set up to honor the memory of Maxwell Niederhauser, who died at 17 during a WORCS ATV race in October at Oceano Dunes (Pismo) in California.

The 3525 Scholarship Fund will allow for five separate $3,000 scholarships to go to five individuals in 2008. Funding for the scholarships came through private donations and auctions selling autographed gear from pro ATV racers.

To be eligible for a scholarship, you must have graduated high school no earlier than January, 2008 or plan to graduate by June, 2009. You must be a WORCS racer or direct family member (brother or sister) of a WORCS racer.

Two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals seeking education from a motorcycle/ATV technical school such as Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI).

If you plan on applying for this scholarship, include a 750-word essay about how sportsmanship plays a role in life and what made you choose the motorcycle/ATV industry.

Three $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to individuals seeking education from an accredited college.

If you plan on applying for one of these scholarships you must include a 750-word essay about how this scholarship will enable you to succeed in your education and how sportsmanship plays a role in life.

Those applying for any of the five scholarships must maintain a ‘B’ average in your school or education program and submit proof of the grades by transcript from your school.

Essays and applications can be submitted by July 1, 2008 via email to info@worcsracing.com with the subject line saying ‘3525 scholarship’. The Niederhauser family will be making the selections and the winners will be notified by July 15, 2008.
