ok machine lots of little problems .

I have owned my 2009 trv 550 for a year now im not so impressed with it to tell the truth. Sure it handels ok and the ride is ok but I dont find it to be a tough machine. like I said I have owned it for a year it has less the 4000 kms on it and since I bought it I have had to replace All the A arm ...bushings, A rear CV joint after 2 months. The clutch is noisy and even seems to knock when you give a small shot of gas.My front cv joints have looseness in them . Not very well made to have all thease defects in less then a year. Sure I ride alot but mostly on federated well maintained trails.and i have always inspected my machine for cv boot damage and stearing looseness

The 6 month warrenty does not show alot of confidence in their product either and im out of pocket for the A arm bushings dispite them being worn in less then a year.Im told its normal wear and tear, Although Arctic Cat has different part numbers for the replacments.So it seems to me they knew there was a problem produced the replacment parts but never said anything about premature wear,and as a result I had to pay for them this week before the start of my second 4 wheeling season in this new machine,because they were not covered under the extended warrenty.

My ball joints are a bit loose there is a leak in my valve cover and there was a problem with an o ring inside the left side cover. Lots of little problems that Add up to $$$$ for a machine that has only seen a bit of mud and mostly federated maintained trails. If I had it to do over again for a 2 up I would likely go with the Can Am with its far better warenty. I hate paying for repairs while im still paying for the new machine.And the CV joints that were covered resulted in a 2 week loss of my new machine at the hight of the 4 wheeling season due to a back order on parts for a brand new machine.

This all coupled with the fact that my dealer was the local rip off artist and lost the right to deal Arctic Cats for stuff like not registering the payed for extended warrenties, makes it so the purchass of this machine leaves me with a real bad taste in my mouth. parts

I have had the arctic cat for 50 days. I have drove it for a week puting on 175 milies of easy trail ride. Then it started to be a clicking sound when i backed up. I took it in to my dealer they said that it was the axle. They said that would order the part but it would be about 3 weeks. They had ab...out 5 people that are waiting for the part to. It has been way over 3 weeks and I am still waiting. I will not buy arctic cat, next time and would tell everyone not to buy one. Read Full Review

not-so water-proof actuators

I would like this machine except for the fact that I have replaced the front diff/4wd actuator twice and it only has 120 miles on it. other than a few shallow mud puddles I have barely gotten it wet. The arctic cat dealer tells me this is not a common problem for cats. The part alone isw $300, th...ey over-complicated a part that does not need it. To settle wasn't really settling.

I previousely owned a 2006 650 TRV. I enjoyed it, but then decided I wanted to experience a side by side. After spending the next banging the skid plate of the side by side, and jarring my backbone, I decided....no more. I was ready to go back to an ATV. My previous ownerships of ATV's have incl...uded Hondas, Yamahas, Polaris and Arctic Cat. So...I know what I was looking for. My experience with my Grizzly 660 was great! But, these day, my daughter get tired on long rides, and I needed a two up ATV. I know that Arctic Cat offered a unique and very comfortable machine. The TRV.
So, the deal was worked and I walked out of the shop with a 2009 Arctic Cat 550H1 TRV, Steel Blue. I was seriousely considering the 700H1, but couldn't swing it financially in the deal. I presumed that I was settling. Well, I soon discovered I was wrong!!!
After approx. 300 miles of riding, I strongly believe this bike has all the power of my 05 Grizzly 660,except for top speed. Ok, yes the 550H1 TRV doesn't pull a hill like a Grizzly, but then again, it's bigger, heavier, and a smaller engine. Other than that this bike has hauled my 280 pounds without a hitch. I have traveled at speeds up to 54 miles an hour. Cruised for long distances at a comfortable cruising speed of 35 to 40 mpg, and crawled through boulder strewn washed out canyons in 4 Low with confidence.
Pros-clearance, two seater comfort, long wheel base smooth ride, feul economy.
Cons-Front fender plastic vibrates on frame near front bumper mount-fixed with can cuzi and zip ties. Engine noise seems a little loud. Gear shift lever needs more positive feel. Needs right front brake only lever.

I mentioned the feul economy....I have ridden tow different trips of approx. 110 miles each. The bike show a quarter tank after 100 miles!!! My guess, although I haven't tested it, is this bike is good for about 150 miles on a tank!!!! My Grizzly was good for 80.

So, when I thought I was settling for a smaller engine, in turn I have found that I have plenty of power, and great economy. In the end, I haven't settled at all!!!
