Only 4hrs but love it
By Brent (I am an Owner) on May 03, 2011My first ride on the outlander 400 I was riding around in 4x4 and thought i was in 2x4 because it handled so well. I thought top speed was slow at 45 mph but when I switched to 2 wheel I hit 57 mph, it is still new so I didn't try to wind it out. I am use to shifting so climbing was a little scary ... at first I wasn't sure if it had the power for some big hills.the more I ride the more confident I get and with low range no hill is a problem it will climb anything I would want. In the snow I was riding with a 300 lbs man on a 300 artic 4x4 I could go more places then he could with the can-am in 2 wheel, so we switched and he went places I couldn't at 190lbs on the artic-cat. The only thing I'm not sure I like is the engine braking. It works so well you don't need brakes and pretty much have to give it gas all the time even down the step hills. Again I'm use to shifting and I will learn to like this. I like the smaller frame, than the big 800's this will do anything the big machines will just not as fast. But it handles better on tight trails. Steering is smoth even in 4x4 and the ride is as smooth as any I have ridin.
