keeps on going

i bought my sportsman 500 ho last year and was a little worried about how it would perform but after pulling trees out of the bush that were 50 feet long and a 20 in thick i was impressed my buddies honda and his yamaha could not even start to pull them trees. we were also on a deer hunt and the hon...da and yamaha kept getting stuck on our trail but my polaris pushed them out and kept going it is like a tractor and i will never own anything else!. ECM Issues!!!!

I bought a used 2005 500 H.O. about three years ago. Ran fine up until I bought my wife the exact same bike, color and everything. We went on one ride together in July 2010 as the charging system on hers kept failing. We limped home by transferring my battery every 30 minutes to and from hers - bac...k and forth. Anyway, brought it to my dealer and he said the ECM is not working as well as the stator is faulty too. The ECM is on recall but the stator has to be paid for by myself, $600.00 with installion. It gets better. So this was August 10th, it's still at the dealers because Polaris can't get one from the manufactor??? Then last month my Polaris ECM went for a crap. Called my dealer and he said we just received a memo from Polaris that Dec 20 might be the date the ECM arrives, maybe. I don't believe this!! Two dead bikes, no fall riding with my wife, $12,000 in machines.....!@!! Once fixed, will be selling and never will I buy a Polaris again. Read Full Review

05 sportsman 500ho limited edition

I have 05 . I like when I put it in four wheel drive it is true four wheel drive. Mine has been beat to death in the mud, woods and around my property . Up to the handle bars in water . Hit trees , jumped , pushed and pulled trucks that don't run. The only problems I have had is recall on ecm . I pu...t new battery and brakes several oil changes and new set of tires on it. Dont buy this A.T.V.

The suspension is like that out of the 90's, its also very heavy and feels wiggly in the realend when going down hills and pulling logs. I also own a 2005 yamaha grizzly 660 and regaurdless of what the other guy said my yamaha can pull way over twice its own weight with ease. Plus its not all time 4...WD like my grizzly can be with just a touch of a button.
good for a starter bike i guess. It is a comfortable ride but thats about it. I recommend reading reviews on all the atv's like i did. quess who holds the title for best reviews??? lol look it up just use google! Read Full Review

overall impressive and fun

I have really enjoyed owning this bike. it is pretty fast and has great suspension. however I was not impressed with low end power it simply lacked torque. if I buy another I would personally get an 800 for through extra torque. Read Full Review
