My experience of buying 25 Raptors
By Giles Donovan (I am an Owner) on Apr 30, 2018As Australia's largest quad bike tourism business we buy large numbers of quad bikes every year to maintain a fleet of over 100 running machines. This year we bought 25 Yamaha Raptor 90s for use on one of our experiences.
Three weeks after putting them into production we had 5 in a trash ... heap with a twisted chassis, 2 with bent steering arms. We also encountered that most bikes had lose nuts after a few days in operation - on the steering I might add!! - we had exhausts coming lose and a variety of other issues.
By the way, I was also surprised to find these bikes were assembled in Taiwan and most of the parts seems to be made there as well.
Yamaha's government and fleet manager brought his engineers to navel gaze this problem and offered us no warranty support whatsoever. Disappointed to say the least. I escalated it to the CEO and the Communications Director. Nothing.
Now of course, we run these bikes on a beach and often put adult riders on them. You might have a different experience. However we have never encountered this terrible experience with other bikes in the same class.
In short I would not recommend them, especially given Yamaha's lack of warranty support.
