Pennsylvania's Piney Rail Riders (PRR) has secured a significant grant from the state's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to secure and build on land that will help maintain and expand the OHV hobby. Better yet, there's more money available and multiple other off-road parks and organizations have received grants as well.

For this round of grants, Pennsylvania's DCNR pulled together $2,124,200 to donate to organizations seeking to open or keep open OHV trails and facilities. The majority of this was given to the Piney Rail Riders to the tune of $937,900, which the western Pennsylvania organization says will be used to create the Piney Branch All-Terrain Vehicle Rail Corridor on 550 acres of newly-purchased land, which in turn will house hundreds of miles of trails for ATVs, UTVs, and dirt bikes. What's great about this is that the expansion not only benefits those partaking in OHV activities, but also local business owners as the expansion in tourism attraction will help boost the local economies as well.

In addition to the PRR being given the aforementioned large sum of money, other Pennsylvania-based organizations were also given grant money. $269,000 was awarded to Lannding LLC for the Lannding Off-Road Park, while the company that owns the Mines and Meadows ATV/RV Resort was given a healthy $741,500 to help further expand the park itself. What we'd really like to see in the future from PA's grant program is the acceleration of the long-awaited reopening of Paragon Adventure Park, which will reopen under state management and the Catawissa Recreation Area. In any capacity, this is great news all-around for off-roaders in western Pennsylvania.
