Last week we put up our first impressions review article and video of the new 2019 Honda Talon 1000R and 1000X – the first ever Sport UTV from Honda. It seems that the off-road world is excited about Honda’s newest machine, but some people wanted to see the Talon in action and hear the engine scream – rather than listen to us talk about it.

2019 Honda Talon 1000R and 1000X Review: First Impressions + Video

While our feelings our hurt, it’s completely understandable that you would want to more of an opportunity to watch the Honda Talon 1000R and 1000X do their thing.

To make amends, we have put together a video made up entirely of clips of Talon in action. We broke up the video into two sections – the first shows off the 68-inch Honda Talon 1000R and the second is all about the narrower 64-inch Honda Talon 1000X.

For those of you who are new to the Honda Talon, we’ll include some background information below. For everybody else, you can stop reading and just watch the video here.

After the off-road world waited for years to see a sport-focussed Honda UTV, our wish was finally granted on November 27. But rather than just a single new machine, we got two – the Honda Talon 1000R and 1000X.

Both Talon models feature a 999cc parallel twin engine that produces 104 horsepower at the crank. Both also feature a six-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission.

The Honda Talon 1000X is the 64-inch wide offering with an 87.6-inch wheelbase. This machine offers 15.1 inches of travel in the rear and 14.6 out front. The suspension is dampened by FOX Podium 2.0 shocks and is adjusted very simply with the QS3 triple setting adjusters. The rear suspension is a three-link trailing arm design, which differs from its brother.

The Honda Talon 1000R has is a touch wider at 68 inches and has a longer wheelbase of 92.7 inches. There are also significant differences in the suspension. Front suspension travel is more than three inches longer at 17.7 inches, while the rear offers an additional five inches of travel compared to the 1000X at 20.1 inches. The rear suspension also uses what Honda calls a 4+ link trailing arm design.
