Dim-Witted ATV Thief Calls Police for Help
This may surprise you, but you don’t have to be particularly smart to be a thief. The latest example of this comes from a story we found in the Daily Press.
An 18-year-old Ashland, Wis. man broke into a storage garage which contained, among other things, an ATV. He apparently tried to move a trailer loaded with some heavy objects to get at the ATV when the tongue of the trailer gave out and his legs got trapped underneath.
The would-be thief then called his mother for help, but she couldn’t get into the building because it was still locked. After what we can only imagine was a good deal of mulling over options, the pair decided to call the police.
“I can honestly say I don’t think in my 25 years that I’ve had a would-be criminal trap themselves and call for help,” Ashland County Police Lieutenant Greg BeBeau told the Daily Press.
After a quick trip to the hospital to get his injuries treated the incompetent criminal was incarcerated for violating his probation.
Nude ATVer Arrested in Saskatchewan
We’re not quite sure what it is about ATVs, nudity, and Canada, but we’ve seen our second story in three months that involves all three.
It seems a man in a small town in rural Saskatchewan ran naked in front of a woman operating a road grader at a work site. He returned a short time later riding an ATV and wearing only a helmet and proceeded to ride circles around the unimpressed woman.
The man was later arrested for his stupidity…but at least he was bright enough to wear a helmet. We’re guessing when he goes ATVing with his friends in the future they won’t be too eager to borrow his ride. We don’t care how much you wash it…that seat is now a bio-hazard.
The best part about this strange story are the comments it received. Glad to see our neighbors to the north have a good sense of humor.

Don't Try This at Home: Jet Ski Pulled by ATV [video]
We found a video that should give you a new respect for how powersports mad folks are in Estonia.
The video was shot on Christmas day and features an ATV pulling a Jet Ski across a frozen lake. Strange as that sounds, it gets weirder. During this romp on the ice, a group is cutting a patch out of the frozen lake so the Jet Ski rider can play in the water. Did we mention it was below freezing outside? Check out the video after the jump.
Don't Try This at Home: Muddy Crash [video]
Sometimes you come across a video and you just don’t know what to say. This is one of those times, but I’ll do my best to string a few words together before the video – available after the jump.
It all starts out well enough. A group of friends is riding ATVs and one of them decides to either jump over or jump into a mud pit on his ATV. Of course, our hero is wearing ideal protection, highlighted by a hoodie and a ball cap. Clearly he’s thought this through.
As you might expect, things don’t go quite according to plan and the rider flies over the handlebars and into the murky depths. He’s pulled out relatively unscathed and manages to find his beloved cap. It’s only after the jump (awesome slow-mo replay included) that we learn the pilot broke his collarbone a few weeks prior playing football. Hopefully this accident won’t affect his ability to continue his work as a neurosurgeon.
DieHard Battery Vs. Reggie Watts [video]
Reggie Watts tests DieHard batteries under extreme demands. A single DieHard Platinum battery powers an original musical set from Reggie Watts. Powering the amp, mic, 100 LED lights, and the car is the easy part.

More ATVs on Ice [video]
Helping prove that ATV riding is a four-season sport, even in the North, we stumbled across a YouTube gem from February 5 (available after the jump) that shows a group of riders having a blast riding in Pennsylvania in the middle of winter.
Much of the video revolves around a Yamaha Grizzly 700 and a Can-Am Renegade trying to fight up an icy hill – mostly without success. The unfortunate Renegade rider heaps some abuse on his ATV as he smacks it into the back of two different machines when tries to make the slippery climb.
ATV Frozen in White Lake
An ATV was found frozen upside down in White Lake, with just the wheels above the ice, the three man crew works to free the vehicle. Justin Holland, Rich Krauss and Warren Holland successfully manage to get the ATV out using a chainsaw and a homemade tripod with a wench.

Don't Try This at Home: ATV Spike Wheels
We have a hard time questioning old-fashioned American ingenuity after watching our latest YouTube find (available after the break).
It seems somebody had the brilliant idea of building a set of ATV wheels that could take you just about anywhere. To achieve his goal of go-anywhere wheels, our fearless fabricator welded 5/8” round bars to old car wheels and attached them to a 2000 Honda FourTrax 350.
Are they fuel efficient? No. Are they quiet? No. Are they good for your ATV? No. Are they trail legal anywhere? Hell no! However, you can’t deny that they are effective. Sure, you’ll destroy whatever trail you ride them on, but you can be certain you’ll make it up that slippery hill or through that muddy bog. That’s enough to bring a tear to the eye of any garage inventor looking for his big break.
Don't Try This at Home: ATVs on Ice
YouTube strikes again! As we were combing the on-line universe for the latest and greatest ATV action, we stumbled (pardon the pun) across this gem of a video featuring two guys having a little trouble getting an ATV off a patch of ice.
We offer this video to you not as a means to teach you anything or to give you any insight whatsoever into the fine sport of ATV riding. Instead, we present this video only to brighten your day as you can’t help but laugh when you see people slip, slide, and fall on the ice.
After a minute or so we found ourselves pushing for our two heroes to finally make some headway on their slippery escapade. Alas, we never find out how (or if) the Honda sport quad makes its escape. Hopefully they didn’t have to wait until spring. Check out the video after the break.
