The safest way to winch

Update – this content is now closed. No more entries are being accepted.

No ATV or UTV is complete without a quality winch, which can get you or a buddy out of a jam. But the safety latch on a traditional winch hook is a weak point. The good news is we can help solve that issue.

ATV.com has teamed up with Factor 55 to offer up an UltraHook XTV to one lucky winner. To participate, please click here. The contest ends on May 15th, so don’t delay!

So what makes the Factor 55 UltraHook XTV different? A traditional winch hook’s safety latch is not intended to be load bearing. For the most part the latch won’t ever be under load, but if your winch hooks slips and the rope ends up on the latch, bad things can happen. Here’s where Factor 55 comes in.

The UltraHook can be used in two different ways. If you have a fairly simple recovery, you can use the UltraHook just like you would a regular winch hook. But you face a more difficult winching job, you can connect to the closed system shackle mount (see image below). This, simply put, is the safest way to use your winch.

Factor 55 Closed System

The UltraHook XTV features a flat body made of 6000-series aluminum with a titanium connection pin, as well as rubber pads that let it rest flat against the fairlead without rattling around. As well, it has a maximum load rating of 10,000 pounds and a breaking strength of 21,000 pounds.

The contest is open to USA residents only. For the official rules, restrictions, and other legalese, please click: ATV.com- Factor 55 UltraHook XTV – Rules and Regulations.

Now go on and enter for your chance to win before it’s too late.
