According to a report from Yamaha Global, the parent company of Yamaha Motor, the manufacturer has its sights set on growing its Side-by-Side business exponentially in the coming years.

The goal is for Yamaha to nearly triple its UTV market share, which is hugely ambitious. Yamaha looks to be working on some new models to help them along the way.

While details are scares, according to a graphic produced by Yamaha Global, the new Side-by-Side platform will sit somewhere between the Wolverine and the YXZ1000R. While we don’t know anything at this point, that should still mean a sport-focussed machine that is slightly more practical than the pure sport YXZ we’ve come to know and love over the past couple of years.

Yamaha UTV Plans

Unfortunately, we don’t have any kind of timeline for this, as the report was pretty vague about dates. What we do know is that the both the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office show that Yamaha has applied for a trademark for the name “VTR” or “V-TR” for an off-road vehicle. It’s just a guess at this point, but a Yamaha VTR off-road vehicle certainly sounds interesting.

Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long to find out what’s in store from Yamaha. Regardless, it should be fun.
