Two top-five finishes for KTM

The FRE/KTM ATV GNCC Team had a great weekend at the 11th round of the ATV GNCC Series with Women’s rider Angel Atwell earning third overall and XC1 rider Bryan Cook taking home fourth place.

The morning Women’s race started off great with Atwell taking the holeshot and the early lead. Atwell lead the entire first lap, pitting for gas at the end of the lap. When she reentered the course she was sitting in fourth position. On the third lap she passed Traci Cecco for 3rd place and began to close in on the leaders. Unfortunately time ran out before she could make up enough time to pass the other riders and she finished third behind winner Kristen Atwell and second place Lexi Coulter.

In the XC1 class, Cook earned a second place start behind Chris Borich. It was determined later that Borich fired his engine early and would receive a 30 second penalty at the end of the first lap. That penalty also handed Cook the holeshot award.

Bryan Cook earned the holeshot award and finished fourth in the XC1 class.

Halfway into the first lap, Cook had slipped back to fifth position. The top five riders remained close and began to pull away from the rest of the field. At the completion of the first lap, Borich was held at the check point for 30 seconds. He lost the lead and returned to the track right in front of Cook. Heading into the second lap the top five were led by Kiser, Bithell, Borich, Cook and Ockerman. Borich and Kiser began a battle for the lead on the third lap which they took to the finish while Bithell and Cook battled for third. In the end, Borich just beat out Kiser for the win, Kiser hung onto second, followed by Bithell in third and Cook in fourth.

Next Event: St. Clairsville, OH – October 9-10, 2010
