Jagged X Ranger RZR overcomes early trouble to finish second

Larry and Dillon Ayers rode their B&A Motorsports built Yamaha Rhino to a Pro UTV class victory at Best in the Desert Terrible’s 250, held in Primm, Nev. on April 19.

It was far from an easy win for the Rhino team, however, as team Jagged X fell just short in its Polaris Ranger RZR, piloted by Brandon Schueler and Blake Van de Loo. Third place went to Danny Savant, Jake Savant and Greg Ryan.

The Ayers’ finished the 90-mile course two hours and 25 minutes, just one minute and three seconds clear of Scheuler and Van de Loo, who ran into some trouble early on.

The 15 entries hit the course in a staggered format and the Polaris team started in seventh position. At the fourth mile, Scheuler and Van de Loo were trying to pass the sixth car and the tires on the two vehicles became tangled, causing an altercation that dropped them near the back of the pack.

The Jagged X Ranger RZR team responded by reeling in the field and regaining track positions. By the first pit, Scheuler and Van de Loo were back in fifth position and by the second pit they were running third.

Though the RZR crossed the finish line first, the final results put the team in second place due to the staggering starting times. Still, the finish was good enough to propel Scheuler and Van de Loo into first place for season points.

The next Best in the Desert race is the Blue Water Grand Prix in Parker, Ariz. on May 17.
