Fast and powerful
By John Rosenswie (I am an Owner) on May 08, 2020This year the 850 received fly by wire throttle control. This makes the throttle incredibly easy to push along with changing fuel delivery settings for each mode(work, normal, and sport). Work mode tones the machine way down so it's not jerky when plowing or towing. Normal mode makes rough trails ... easy by not allowing the machine to buck forward with every tiny change in throttle position. Sport mode is full on responsive to rider input, the 850 in sport mode will do wheelies with a slap of throttle. It has the power and snappyness of a high end sport ATV with this mode enabled but this also makes rough trails a little tougher as even small throttle changes can lunge you off the trail. The suspension seems stiffer on the front than older can ams. This could be due to the front sway bar the started using on the 2019s. This sway bar makes handling on tight trails taken with speed much easier than models of the past. Top speed is 78mph which seems to be electronically governed. It would go faster if can am would let it. All in all this machine scratches the itch of wanted a sport quad with the comfort and convenience of an independent suspension 4x4.
