2008 Honda FourTrax Foreman® 4x4

I have had my 2008 foreman es for 12 years and the only trouble I have had was my fault. I had issues with rear brakes due to going through water and not draining drum. I love this bike, if u take care of it it will last 30 plus years. It's reliable, good on fuel, tough. I wish it was efi, had ... a locking front diff, and rear disc brakes. But new models have made those changes. The machine does have a primer under the seat, with primer and choke it will start in the winter, just takes a while to get warm. This bike is very utility themed seems like your driving a tractor more than atv. Straight rear axle on this bike has less comfort and clearance than the new independent suspensions, but allows bike to haul more and should never give you trouble. Love the es transmission, it allows to go to low range (1rst) very easily for rock crawling. You will never have problems, with the actual transmission. Apparently a lot of people prefer foot shift as sometimes electric shifter can fail. In 12 years I haven't had a problem even though I have buried my bike quite a few times. You will never need to change a belt on it, and unlike a CTV transmission you don't feel like you are constantly over rev the engine, you can just change gears and putter around. At work we had a couple 1987 Honda 300 foretraxes and they still worked awesome when we got rid of them a couple years ago, I expect my bike to last longer than those bikes. Love Honda products, not flashy, but gets the job done and will last.

Its always confused me why people rate these so well? Maybe its the same people that use defenders because 'that's what they've always had'. How they can squeeze so little ticking power from that engine is beyond me. The noise, the rattle, is almost as bad as rev your arse off yamahas. 2 valve when ... the competition is running 4? Come on. Not to mention the really prone overheating and seizures. The seating position is good if your used to doing the splits, i cant to more than 20 minutes without having to get off and walk. The footrest supports are junk, wait what supports? 2 flimsy pieces of wire you snap under any weight causing you to fall through and smash the plastic. Turning circle is a mile. Suspension joints wear out stupidly fast not to mention the plastic upper arm bushes and the strut lower, i mean what is wrong with a rubber bush honda?? Rear swing arm has bearings instead of bushes too that are prone to rust or impact failure. Racks bend like cheese as the weld joins are in the wrong places. Shift lever is directly into the engine rather than going through a secondary pivot to take the wear like competitors. The oil seal there also falls out for fun dumping the oil. No low box? Ovcource why do need one when you know people only buy it for the name not a major feature like that. Reverse ritual is just stupid and time wasting. Its not all bad news though, i dont mind the front brake. Can't say same for rears as they seize for fun as only thing that stops water getting in is a felt washer. And the sping to return the handlebar lever is never intact. And to think they made these while the competition had moved on over 5 years prior to bigger and better features. I see these things endlessly in my garage weekly and frankly i am sick of bothering with them.

10 years of four wheeling, and this is by far the best one I have driven, power steering- can ride all day with out sore arms even while in the mud or exploring at high speeds. 2 and 4 wheel drive shift on the fly, limited slip. plunty of pulling power, top speed of 56. plunty of torque, the front ... bumper does its job by collapsing or bending vs racking the frame unlike other brands. never had starting issues even after setting for 4 weeks, cold start - no problem. better control with a rear straight axle vs independent. and its manual shifting so YOU control, not rpms and/or a computer.

I was looking for an ATV that have the look ,the performance and the power at the same time until i found on this site the Honda 2008 fourTrax4*4.Its realy a beast.
