Problems with RTV500
By Sue (I am an Owner) on Jan 23, 2011On Aug 31, 2009 we purchased a brand new RTV500 in the realtree pattern. I'm older and found it to be much more comfortable to do the farm work in as opposed to our ATV. My machine was serviced in June of 2010 at a little over 50 hours as instructed by the salesperson, at the cost of $201. Last winter, ... it snowed so much that I got it stuck more than once. It was of no use to me and I used my truck til the snow melted. To date (Jan/2011) it has roughly 92 hours on it which averages out to about 5 hours of use a month. I use it to take my unburnable trash down the driveway to the bin and to take feed and water to my poultry and goats. It has never been remotely abused. Last week, it suddenly started smoking so bad I had to abandon it because I could not see to drive. Now it won't stay started and continues to smoke profusely. I emailed the company this morning and hope they will take responsibility for it. It is a 60 mile trip to the nearest Kubota dealer now since our local dealer went out of business very shortly after we purchased it. To have it picked up and returned is $130. I love the RTV but I strongly discourage anyone from buying one of these. It's becoming a money pit and has always failed me when I needed it the most. I've so often wondered how people who have purchased these for REAL work have fared. Thank you for reading my review; I hope it has spared someone the trouble it has caused us.

RTV500 3 month review
By john magy (I am an Owner) on Dec 21, 2010I traded an RTV900 with less than 700 hours with a major transaxle failure. Bought a 2011 Camo RTV500. It was in the shop 6 weeks of the first 3 months I owned it. It also has a transaxle issue. I feel it is under powered with 2 persons. Not sure I would buy another Kubota side-by side.
