I too have purchased a 2009 rzr 170. I have had nothing but problems. Bought the extended warranty. The things was back firing, jerking when slow down and finally would not start. Took it in to my local dealer for repair, it took them 4 months to call me and tell me what they thought was wrong with ...

PURCHASED NEW A 2009 RZR 170 FOR MY CHILDREN IN SEPT. 2010 AFTER I HAD PURCHASED A 2010 RANGER CREW. THE UTV RZR 170 MOST LIKELY HAD BEEN SITTING ON THE SHOW ROOM FLOOR FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR OR MORE. PRIOR TO LEAVING THE SHOW ROOM WITH THE VEHICLE, THE RE-CALL WARRANTY WORK WAS DONE REGARDING THE ...

  • razor brake master cylinder
By Nicholas Hill (I am an Owner) on Oct 22, 2010

I bought my son's razor last year and no problems yet except for the other day the brake was stiff and I pushed on it kinda hard. Now the plunger that goes into the cylinder from the brake pedal is real loose. Am I gonna have to replace the master cylinder or is there an easier fix now that of course ...

  • Poor design
By S.Rich (I am an Owner) on Apr 07, 2010

I bought the pink one for my daughters for christmas. As stated above the air intake system is junk, the recall should fix the problem, i HOPE. The chain is junk on this particular one all kinked up and will not straighten out. The tranny is junked like staed in other blogs, it is at the dealer ...

  • RZR 170
By GOTHEV8 (I am an Owner) on Feb 23, 2010

I purchased a RZR 170 for the kids. It didn't leave the dealer until they had fitted the Vent Racing air cleaner (now draws air from behind the seats) and their exhast and engine filter. The thing is awesome and the kids love it.

Advice: DO NOT USE YOUR 170 WITH THE STOCK AIR CLEANER, ...

  • I am talking to you Polaris!!!!
By Aaron Tarajkowski (I am an Owner) on Feb 18, 2010

Bought one for my son late 2009. These things are just glorified toys. Major issues Polaris needs to fix before making any more.

    * Air box system is a joke. They need to make a taper up type 1 1/2" tapered to 3") snorkel to go through the bread box.

    * Tranny is cheesy, cheep, thin ...

*Rear swing arm was designed by Cheap 5 year old Chinese Labor. The bend in the square tubing make the metal weak and will bend even more after a few rides.(anybody with IQ over 100 would know it just by looking at it) It needs to have a strengthening gusset made and welded to the swing arm so it doesn't bend.

*They need a broader range CVT clutch to give it more top end.....stock is way too slow.

I am dissapointed in this over priced toy. You really need to follow the warning label if you don't want to break it. Don't go fast, don't go up hills, don't drive on pavement, don't drive on dirt. Just drive it in a circle on grass and you might be ok.

If you want a good machine that your kids can ride, jump, go up hills and do doughnuts etc. without breaking, go get a Honda, Yamaha, or Suzuki quad.

Stay away from this overpriced toy machine until Polaris can design it to do what an off road vehicle is supposed to do - go off road and not break.

  • RZR 170 problems
By D. Gray (I am an Owner) on Apr 06, 2009

I purchased my son a new RZR 170 in Jan 2009 when it first arrived at the dealer. It ran great and my son loved it. One major thing that I have noticed is, the air cleaner is under the back near the wheels. Dust and dirt just covers it up and the air cleaner is cheezy and small so you have to ...

I bought this machine for my son, but found that I have as much fun as he does in it. Plenty of power, and very scrappy. I am getting a bottom skid plate soon though to compensate for it's limited clearence. All around this is a wonderfull machine, and I can't think of anything safer for younger ...

  • Great UTV
By Marty Martens (I am an Owner) on Feb 18, 2009

We bought this for my brother-in-law who has cerbral palsy. He's high functioning but has physical limitations. His life was behind his computer till this razor 170 came into his life. It has plenty of power and we did not even adjust the factory pre-set yet! He started out slow and cautious and ...

I would suggest you buy an after market skid plate for the bottom to protect the frame and chain. I can only thank polaris for coming out with a good priced utv for the handicapped.
