  • Great bike - showing its age
By Joseph Brown (I am an Owner) on Jul 14, 2021

I just put on the second set of trail tires. Use this bike for trees, hunting and fun but generally stay on the beaten path. Currently no power despite battery being good, changed spark plug (pain in the butt) and tore 3/4 the bike apart. Still no power. Love it and it owes me nothing. Just have ...

  • 2021 and still an awesome machine
By Musicman (I am an Owner) on May 23, 2021

First off I purchased these new and still own them.

I too have had the boot problem on both of my machines but that is no biggie when it comes to repairs that could be more expensive. I have electrical problems with mine so when I shut it off I need to use the switch on the handle bar and ...

I think mine has about 1,500 miles on it. I have had to change the oil because the wrench comes on telling me it's time about four times in it's lifetime.

I weigh 400 lbs so this thing gets a workout. From the Rubicon trail in California to the ocean and beaches in Oregon, these machines have been awesome. They have seen a lot of rough trails and made a few in the mean time. I don't think I will ever replace them and if I do it will be a Polaris side by side.

I rated performance 4 star only because the clutch disengages when going down steep grades because it is not gear driven it is like the snowmobiles but if you use the brake and tap the throttle it will engage again. Other than that I love it.

Enjoy. 17 yrs and still riding the same quads, every year.

  • only problem with polaris
By gary clark (I am an Owner) on Feb 11, 2010

i have a polaris sportsman 400 and have talked to many owners and it seems that the cv boot just loves to tear we go through one at least every year it gets annoying having to tear the rear end down on each side to keep replacing them and the clips to put them back together are just crazy
