I decided instead of buying another used wheeler I would buy new. I ran many carburated polaris wheelers in the past and they were all great. I bought my first efi, what a mistake. The piece of junk left me stranded on the top of a mountain. Had to walk 6 miles off, just to get a Honda to pull me ... off. Never again. This is the last polaris I will ever buy. The dealership was worthless, I fixed it on my own, and if a company cant put an o-ring in a fuel pump the right way, how can I trust the rest of the machine.
Bought a 2016 450 new. Factory warranty has been expired for over a year when the fuel pump went out. 125 miles, 19 hours on machine. Dealer cost to repair was $701.00 Contacted Polaris customer service and they paid for the repairs. Thanks Polaris and Rocky Mountain cycle plaza in Pueblo, Co.
I have had my sportsman 450 ho for 2 years and have had nothing but problems. From electrical grounding out on frame, cv shafts, and the straw that broke the camels back was a bushing in front differential. This is supposed to keep pinion gear in place wore out and now in order to fix I will have ... to buy a whole new differential. I have called Polaris they are unwilling to help with this design flaw stay away from Polaris. I was a Polaris fan for 40 years and will never buy one again.
Polaris makes a great atv, no doubt.
A couple of things you should know before buying though, is that it's drive by wire, and the stock tune is a little restrictive. Speed limiter, torque restrictor, throttle opening limited to 30%, and maybe can set to too high of a temp. Tires probably a ... little too small for rough trails as well.
HOWEVER, for cheaper than the price of the 570, you can get a new tune and bigger tires for the 450, and it'll really wake the beast.
The handling is great, though, for cruising AND high speed trail riding, but the tire size and ground clearance leave a little to be desired on rough trails and hill climbs. Fixable with new tires and maybe a modest lift, of course.
Just freakin buy one, you won't regret it.
my 2016 450 ho sportsman with only 60 hours on it is making an awful clunking noise coming from front drivetrain I am not impressed at all !!!
