Can-Am ATV and side-by-side racers won a total of seven classes at both the AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) and Texas Off-Road Nationals racing series over the weekend. Can-Am 4×4 racers won three of four classes and earned eight GNCC podiums at the Can-Am Unadilla in New York. TORN racers Hunter and Cody Miller each notched wins aboard their Can-Am vehicles in Texas.

Brothers Hunter and Cody Miller notched three overall wins and five total podiums at the 2013 Oklahoma Gold Rush event near Tulsa, Okla. The Louis Powersports / Can-Am racers each recorded a win with their Maverick 1000R X rs side-by-side vehicles. Hunter won the UTV XC race, while Cody Miller took the overall in the UTV Super Moto event.

“Hunter and Cody Miller had an outstanding weekend in Oklahoma, winning three total classes and showcasing the versatility and capabilities of the Can-Am Maverick 1000R side-by-side vehicle,” says Jeff Leclerc, racing project leader, Can-Am.

Bryan Buckhannon won his third straight 4×4 Open race to start the season.

Once again Can-Am 4×4 ATV racers dominated the morning race at the Steele Creek GNCC, not only winning all five classes, but sweeping every possible podium position. As well, JB Racing / Can-Am DS 450 Pro Jarrod McClure earned fifth in the XC1 ATV Pro class. At round two of the Texas Off-Road Nationals (TORN) in Paradise, Texas, Louis Powersports / Can-Am racer Cody Miller won the Pro ATV class and his teammate and Maverick 1000R X rs pilot Hunter Miller took second in the UTV Expert class.

“Our Can-Am ATV racers had a great Saturday at the Steele Creek GNCC in North Carolina, winning all five 4×4 classes and, once again, sweeping the morning 4×4 podium,” says Jimmie O’Dell, race manager, Can-Am. “Michael Swift notched his first U2 class win aboard the Renegade 800R X xc while defending 4×4 Open class champion Bryan Buckhannon remained undefeated in 2013.”

Josh Creamer rode his BCS Performance / Can-Am DS 450 to the 2012 New England ATV Motocross (NEATV-MX) Pro class championship. Creamer won both Pro class motos at Round 9 in Clifford, Pa. to clinch the title.

Several other Can-Am racers, including Cody Miller, Hunter Miller and Joel Hetrick reached the podium in different racing events in the US. Across the Atlantic Ocean, Americans Josh Frederick and Dillon Zimmerman teamed with Frenchman Jeremie Warnia to finish fourth in the 26th Annual 12 Hours of Pont de Vaux in France.

“Josh Creamer put an exclamation point on his 2012 NEATV-MX season, winning both Pro-level classes at round 9 and securing the 2012 Pro class title with three rounds remaining. His approach and determination this year have been exceptional and he has rewarded himself, his sponsors and BRP with a well-deserved championship,” says Jimmie O’Dell, race manager, Can-Am. “I was extremely proud of the way the Motoworks / Can-Am team never quit and battled through adversity in France to earn fourth at Pont de Vaux.”

Can-Am ATV and side-by-side riders won races in several different classes and series in both the U.S. and Canada this past week.

Leading the way at round five of the New England ATV Motocross Series (NEATV-MX), BCS Performance / Can-Am DS 450 pro Josh Creamer swept both the Pro and Pro-Am classes in New Hampshire. In Texas, Hunter Miller won the Open Expert and Pro-Am classes aboard his DS 450 ATV in the Texhoma Quad Racing Association (TQRA) series. Hunter and his brother Cody Miller also competed in the Texas Off-Road Nationals (TORN) series on Saturday and each notched class victories in their Commander 1000 X side-by-side vehicles. Can-Am X-Team racers also won separate racing events in Iowa and Canada.

“Josh Creamer, who won both the Pro and Pro-Am classes on his DS 450 in New Hampshire, dominated in the NEATV-MX series once again. He continues to impress during his pursuit of a double championship in 2012,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “The Miller brothers were unbelievable in Texas, competing and winning in two different series. Hunter, who also won the TQRA SxS title for Can-Am, had an exceptionally strong weekend in both the Commander 1000 X and on board the DS 450 ATV.”

A broken chain derailed Josh Creamer's championship hopes.

Can-Am DS 450 racers won seven class championships and earned a total of 15 top-three finishes in other classes after the final race of the 2011 New England ATV Motocross series.

Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450 Pro class competitor Josh Creamer came up 15 points short in his quest for a Pro championship due to a broken chain in the first Pro class moto.

“I was proud of Josh Creamer’s effort this year and second place is nothing to be ashamed of that’s for sure. A broken chain is out of your control, but, sadly, it’s part of racing,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “I was pleased to see so many Can-Am DS 450 ATVs compete in the New England MX series this year and to have seven amateur class titles.”

Creamer held a 10-point advantage in the Pro class standings coming into the finale at Hemonds MX in Minot, Maine. However, a broken chain on the first lap of the first Pro class moto resulted in a DNF and mathematically eliminated Creamer for the Pro title chase. The skilled pro remained focused, however, and won the second moto to go along with a double-moto sweep in the Pro-Am class. Creamer ended up second overall in both the Pro and Pro-Am classes aboard his Can-Am DS 450.

In front of 45,000 fans, Can-Am X-Team Pro ATV racer Richard Pelchat topped an all-Can-Am DS 450 podium in winning the ATV portion of the Montreal Supermotocross event held at Olympic Stadium in Quebec, Canada. Fellow Can-Am racer Mark Holz also recorded a class victory, piloting the No. 673 Holz Racing / Motoworks / Can-Am Commander 1000 X to an historic win in the inaugural Side-By-Side class event. Can-Am ATV racers Cody Miller, reigning 2010 NEATV-MX Champion, and John Natalie, 2011 AMA ATV MX Champion, joined Pelchat on the podium.

“It was another great year for Can-Am at the Montreal Supermotocross. To have a Can-Am DS450 podium sweep, and actually the top 4 finishing spots, was outstanding. I’m proud of Pelchat and happy for him to get his first Montreal win and to accomplish it on a DS 450,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Holz knew he had his work cut out for him, but he did it and came out on top. To have the Motoworks / Can-Am Commander 1000 X take a very convincing win in the inaugural SSV event was icing on the cake, especially against a full gate of competitive side-by-sides. It was mission accomplished for Can-Am in Montreal and a great result for all BRP employees.”

Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450 pro ATV racers remain in control of the Pro class points lead in the New England ATV Motocross series and World Off-Road Championship Series after this weekend’s races.

Josh Creamer went 1-2 in the Pro class motos to finish second and retain a 10-point lead in the NEATV-MX series. While Jeremie Warnia, after a fifth-place finish at Glen Helen in California, still leads the WORCS Pro class by one point over teammate Josh Frederick, who earned third place at round seven.

“We’re still in control of the Pro class points in both ATV racing series and feel very confident that Josh Creamer will give us his best effort yet at the NEATV-MX finale and provide the Motoworks / Can-Am team with another ATV Pro motocross title in 2011,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “I can’t say enough about the effort put in by both Warnia and Frederick at Glen Helen as they now sit 1-2 in the WORCS Pro class points chase. The WORCS Pro ATV championship will go down to the wire and we’re thankful our guys are sitting in those top two spots.”

NEATV-MX

The MX 101 course in Epping, NH, hosted round 11 of the NEATV-MX series. The short, narrow course made passing difficult, but Josh Creamer found his way around two riders in the first Pro class moto. After starting third, Creamer rallied to pass fellow DS 450 racer Cody Miller (BCS Performance / Can-Am) and then chase down the leader. After a lengthy battle, Creamer made his move and earned the checkers.

In moto two, Creamer again started third. For several laps, Creamer battled with Miller for the second-place spot. Once he finally passed Miller, he set his sights on the leader. However, Creamer ran out of time and had to settle for a second-place finish in moto two. His 1-2 finishes were good for second place overall. His 55-point total for both motos equaled that of the leader and enabled him to retain his 10-point Pro class cushion heading into the finale. The NEATV-MX finals are scheduled for October 9, at Hemonds MX in Minot, Maine.

“I won three out of four motos, but I didn’t win the one I really wanted to win so I am going to have to work a little harder at the final round if I want to take the championship,” says Josh Creamer. “I’m hoping all goes well at the final round and I will be able to give Can-Am a championship in return for everything they have done for me this season.”

Creamer was unstoppable in Pro-Am class action, as he not only won the holeshot of each moto, but also led from wire-to-wire to sweep the class. Miller followed up his third-place finish in the Pro class by finishing third in each Pro-Am moto and third overall.

Motoworks / Can-Am pro ATV racer Josh Creamer won both pro motos aboard his DS 450 ATV at round 10 of the 2011 New England ATV Motocross Series to take over the Pro class points lead. Creamer put together two come-from-behind rides winning the mud-filled first moto and also the second Pro moto to post his fifth overall victory of the season, pushing his class points lead to 10 with only two rounds remaining.

“Creamer may not have gotten off to a good start in the motos, but he displayed the composure of a true champion as he rallied in the mud to notch two moto wins, take the overall victory and the overall Pro class points lead. Josh has won three straight races now and he definitely has his Can-Am dialed in,” says Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am.

The first Pro class moto was delayed close to an hour as lightning and thunderstorms engulfed the Hurricane Hills motocross park in Clifford, Pa. The track was left a water-logged mess, but the Pro class took to the line in spite of the conditions. Creamer was the last pro off the line, but quickly found his way into the top three. After passing into second, Creamer then followed early moto leader, BCS Performance / Can-Am DS 450 racer Cody Miller, for a couple of laps before taking the lead and the win.

A missed shift put Creamer to the back of the class at the start of the second moto, however, Creamer pushed his DS 450 into the top three, again, and soon passed his way into second place. He then passed for the lead later in the moto and held on for another overall victory and his fourth win the last five rounds of racing.

“The weather was horrible. There was a torrential downpour and lots of lightning before we were supposed to start lining up and they had to delay the race for an hour until it cleared. That made the track really muddy for the first pro moto,” says Creamer.

Motoworks / Can-Am ATV racer Josh Creamer overcame the excessively muddy conditions at MX 207 to win the Pro class at round eight of the New England ATV Motocross Series in Lyman, Maine. Creamer also won the Pro-Am class aboard his Can-Am DS 450 ATV. Series points leader, Dustin Wimmer finished second to Creamer in both classes. BCS Performance / Can-Am DS 450 racer Cody Miller earned two podiums as well, taking third overall in each class.

“With his outstanding weekend performance, Creamer has dramatically closed up the Pro class points championship race and sits only four points behind the leader with four rounds of racing remaining,” says Jimmie O’Dell, race manager, Can-Am. “He continues to impress on the DS 450 and his performance in the slick, muddy track was incredible.”

Creamer jumped out to an early lead in moto one, grabbing the holeshot, and held off another racer for the win. Moto two was even more challenging as Creamer, who took another holeshot, dropped back to second place during the early part of the race before making a pass and rallying for the win. His 1-1 finish gave him a 10-point cushion over second place at round eight. With his third overall victory, he now trails the Wimmer by just four points heading into round nine, which is to be held Aug. 21 at Raceway Park in Englishtown, N.J.

“I had a good day even with all the mud,” says Creamer. “I knew a good start was needed, so I just did my best to get out front and stay there. I’m looking forward to the next round at E-Town. Hopefully we’ll get a little better weather for that one.”
