You Can Help Open Up Previously Closed Sections of Glamis

It’s taken a lot of work from organizations like the American Sand Association (aSa) and many committed volunteers, but 40,000 acres of currently closed sand dunes are being reopened for off-road recreation.

The aSa, in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management, is looking for volunteers to start the process of removing the closure stakes in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. Specifically, th small central closure near Gecko Campground and the 160 acres in Buttercup. According to the aSa, the Buttercup project will also call for assistance with the re-installation of the critical habitat closure near the US/Mexico border.

Arctic Cat Hosting Wildcat Demos at Glamis

We’ve been lucky enough to flog the Arctic Cat Wildcat on some gnarly desert terrain, but not everybody has had the opportunity. If you want to get behind the wheel of this four-wheeled beast, Arctic Cat is hosting a series of Wildcat demos in Southern California’s Imperial Sand Dunes – aka Glamis.

“The new Drive Evolution Wildcat trailer display will be the epicenter of demo ride opportunities, as well as a place where Arctic Cat consumers can relax, and associated aftermarket partners can display their Arctic Cat off-road vehicles and product,” Arctic Cat says in a release.

Arctic Cat is inviting all Side x Side enthusiasts to experience a Wildcat first-hand on the following holiday weekends. More dates will be added in the future.

Endless Summer UTV Party in Glamis!
While summer may be a distant memory for some, the OHV season is just getting started in Southern California. To celebrate, the co-founder of the King of the Hammers off-road race has come up with the Endless Summer UTV Party in Glamis, which runs Oct. 18-21.

According to organizers, this is a family event with a luxury camping experience in a resort-like setting and the adventure of hundreds of miles of off-road riding opportunities at your feet.

“It’s not just a trail ride, or trade show; it’s all that, and the final salute to summer poolside with a cool drink and the soundtrack of fun.”
