Kawasaki Teryx Overhauled for 2014
Ever since first laying eyes on the Kawasaki Teryx4 two years ago, we’ve been waiting for the two-seat Teryx to see a significant update. Kawasaki has done just that for 2014.
The list of updates for the 2014 Teryx is long, but the highlights are a more powerful engine, larger chassis, upgraded shock package and redesigned cockpit that is larger and more comfortable.
Kawasaki squeezed more power out of its beloved V-Twin engine thanks to a displacement bump from 749cc to 783cc. This results in a claimed 26% power increase and 12% more torque. We’re not sure how an extra 34cc produces that kind of power boost, but Kawasaki credits optimized camshaft profiles and revised exhaust headers. Even with the additional power, Kawasaki boasts the 2014 Teryx delivers better fuel efficiency than the 2013 model.

Kawasaki Featured ATV and UTV Accessories: May
Kawasaki, like all the other manufacturers, is well aware that many ATV and UTV owners spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on accessories. Rather than hand that money over to aftermarket companies, Kawasaki offers a wide array of accessories designed specifically for its machines.
This month, Kawasaki is featuring a number of these accessories, including skid plates, spare tire mounts, soft tops, and storage solutions.
KFX450R Skid Plates
If you are looking for some protection for the underside of your Kawasaki KFX450R, consider Kawasaki’s aluminum skid plates ($169.95 for main skid plate, $159.95 for the swing arm skid plate). Each is designed to offer additional protection for key components. According to Kawasaki, the durable, aluminum skids fit perfectly, ever time.
Teryx 750 Spare Tire Mount
You can always throw a spare tire in the bed of a Kawasaki Teryx, but if it doesn’t leave you much room to carry anything else. This is where Kawasaki’s Spare Tire Mount comes in, as it allows you to mount your spare on the roll cage. Retailing for $299.95, the Spare Tire Mount is made of steel and features a power coated finish.
Dan Kelly Drives Teryx to Victory at WORCS Opener
Monster Energy Kawasaki off-road racers kicked-off the opening rounds of the World Off Road Championship Series (WORCS) ATV/UTV season at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif.
Muzzy’s Kawasaki driver Dan Kelly powered his Kawasaki Teryx to the top of the podium in the SxS Production 850 class with fellow Teryx drivers David Lytle in second and Funco Kawasaki’s Garrett George in fifth. In the SxS Production 1000 class, Funco Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Taylor George finished 10th while Muzzy’s Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Robert VanBeekum blew a tire while leading the pack and had to pull off the track.
Sound Strategy
After a series of storms inundated the track at Glen Helen Raceway with more water than it could absorb, racers knew the opening round of the WORCS ATV season would be nothing short of a mug bog. Muzzy’s Kawasaki pilot Kelly came into the weekend with a single goal, to just finish the 45-minute race, regardless of position. When the gate dropped Kelly nailed the holeshot and led wire-to-wire to take the win in the SxS Production 850 class.
