Iowa is filled with so much off-road terrain that it’s hard to want to go anywhere else.
If you live in the middle of the country, you are blessed with many different off-road riding parks that dot the land. This rings true for the state of Iowa, too, which has plenty of different off-road riding areas to make your family adventures SXS ones to remember.
Terrain in all of these parks is extremely diverse, so your adventures will be filled with hard pack, sand, mud, and technical rock climbs all in one day’s ride.
A total of 160 acres of varying terrain characterize this park, which is within close proximity to both the towns of Ely and Solon for all of your supplies and fueling needs. Lakeview OHV has a good network of trails surrounding the on-site motocross tracks. These trails are filled with hard pack dirt, sand, mud, and even some hill climbs. Be sure to have an alternative plan for camping as there are no sites on the premises, but there are campgrounds just adjacent to the park.
A family owned and operated track and trail system, River Farm Recreation is a premier riding area in Iowa. Races are held regularly for motocross fanatics, and the track even has an ATV/SXS track. River Farm is located near the town of Jefferson, Iowa, which has plenty of access to stores, amenities, and more lodging options. In addition to all of the riding amenities, River Farm has a 150’ slip-n-slide and a 500’ zip line that goes across the lake in the park! Talk about family fun! Camping is allowed in a designated area, too.
Family fun can be had anytime at Timber Ridge Ranch, which is located just outside of Castana, Iowa. Memberships are offered (waiting list) to enjoy all of the perks of the park, but non-members are also welcome to enjoy the off-road trails, rental cabins, hiking trails, four ponds, and annual events. Miles of side-by-side trails are common here at Timber Ridge. Multiple events are found at Timber Ridge throughout the year – plan your trip when these are happening to fully enjoy your stay. In addition to the off-road trails, there is also a winery on site to have a sip after your day on the trail is done.
