Powerful and smooth delivery, perfect for taller and stout riders
By Charles Martin (I am an Owner) on Nov 16, 2012This is a very powerful utility ATV that provides a smooth delivery allowing you to get anywhere without a rope or winch. The seat height provides a high center of gravity, but allows for an enormous amount of suspension travel which is extra stiff and nearly impossible to bottom out even pulling ... a trailer or implement. It's the perfect height for taller riders and with its stiff suspension great for stout riders too while providing excellent ground clearance.
What is quite unique to this ride is its non-progressive steering that is very predictable and works well even going over ruts or fallen trees, it keeps its line very well, but requires a bit of muscle in those hard turns. It will power through even the nastiest terrain with confidence with just pointing at it and going, even lines that other riders will avoid. With any utility quad this size, cornering takes some consideration to safely maneuver. Arctic Cat intentionally made the stance wider for easier high speed cornering.
This is the ride everyone who gets stuck will be counting on for them to be pulled out by. Even in the deepest mud or snow, it will pull any size quad out with no problem. In its low range transmission setting and 4x4 applied, it'll pull a barn.
The instrumentation is average but adequate in providing a fuel gauge, speedometer and trip meter.
This is a well suited ride for every kind of riding but racing, that will make any Arctic Cat owner very happy to park in their garage.

Arctic Cat 500 Manual 4x4 2004
By Ben Moore (I am an Owner) on Jun 30, 2010The Arctic Cat 500 Manual 4x4 is a rugged ATV with plenty of torque. This ATV has exceeded my expectations over the past 6 years. Although it is a bit pricy, the ride is as comfortable and smooth as a car and it is powerful enough to pull a small disc with ease. With additional racks, there is ... more space for sprayers, gear, etc. It has proven to test hills, swamps, and rocky terrain well. The only drawback I will note is with additional weight on the rear, it tends to sag and the hitch can bump the ground. The shocks are set to the strongest setting and the dealer suggested the only solution was to install air shocks which can be pricy. All in all this atv is a durable, reliable, versatile in utility, beast that has an unbelieveable ride and is worth the extra $$$.
