Honda rancher
By Yoyoyoyoyo (I am an Owner) on Sep 08, 2013Transmission is never is in the right gear. I always just use it the optional manual shifting, which isn't something you want to do while in the woods, this is a reliable atv, but just doesn't match up performance wise compared to others in its class

By john (I am an Owner) on Feb 20, 2012Bought my 2012 rancher fm on 1/31/12. Have had it out plenty of times now added a plow and winch since i live in NY. Have plowed in 2wd no problem with it. goes threw mud holes no problem. Making a trip to wv in march to put it to the ultimate test on hatfield mccoy trails and im sure it will work ... excellent like always. 2nd honda rancher owner and trac lock is best option they changed on them.

Great all-around ATV (A+)
By Jeff Offshack (I am an Owner) on Jan 21, 2012I recently had the pleasure of purchasing the Rancher 420FM 4x4. I chose the FM model because I like the control of the clutchless foot shifter that I have grown accustomed to. This being the 3rd Honda I have had the pleasure of owning I would say that Honda has done it again! Since purchasing the ... Rancher, I have put approx. 10hrs. on this machine and have put it through it's paces on different terrain found all over Tennessee. At every turn, tow, and hill climb, the familiar level of performance and comfort that comes from Honda was there flawlessly at every opening of the throttle. This atv is the perfect blend of utility and recreation which is hard to find from the "middle-child" of any line. The shift on-the-fly 4x4 is a nice change from the earlier full time 4x4 and the TracLok is very sufficient on slippery terrain. The Rancher came well equipped with a powerful 420cc fuel injected engine, which is plenty of power for an ATV weighing less than 600lbs. Also notable, are the aggressive Maxxis tires and the black wheels available on the Olive color model which add to the styling greatly. A few things I would like to see on the Rancher would be the reintroduction of a dry storage compartment and a 12V power outlet. Both of which should come standard in my opinion because of their necessity on the farm, trail, or wherever you find yourself. Honda's pricing and financing are very fair for the quality they put out and as always, they offer great incentives and rebates to appeal to even the tightest of budgets. I give this atv a 5 out of 5 because the storage and power outlet can be added with minimal trouble.
