Still KIcking after all these years
By Chad T. Everson (I am an Owner) on Feb 18, 2021We bought our sportsman 400 HO August of 2012 and really have not had any problem with it at all. I finally broke off the last bit of winch synthetic cable today and had to buy a replacement. The same old tires are working great with Tireject as we have thorns from osage trees here that love to ... flatten my tires. It is 2021 and this old beast is around 10 years old. I beat on it when I run it especially with its snow/dirt/manure plow. That is why the damn winch rope breaks from constant up and down use. But it took all these years to burn through one winch rope, that is acceptable in my book. I really hate to think what we will do when this beast dies for good on us. I guess we will just buy another one. But a great tool for the homestead, new or old it still does the job everytime.

Great machine in general, especially for the price
By Steve (I am an Owner) on Apr 07, 2014My 2012 HO is my first ATV. I did a lot of research before I purchased and decided that this was the right machine for me. No regrets. You absolutely cannot get a better machine for $5000. Period. Its full size, relatively peppy and nimble, handles extremely well - very confidence inspiring ride- ... and is extremely comfortable. Very plush and functional suspension. I'd agree that this is an entry-level machine only in the fact that it's the lease powerful of the sportsman lineup. I ride with a group of 800's and 850's and I hang with them on all of the trails; the 4x4 system and suspension is identical and for technical riding they have little-to-no advantage over my 400. The few times we ride wide-open trails, then we notice the difference because they've got much better acceleration and top speed. My 400 will still hit 55-58mph though w/o a problem. But I'm not pulling my front end up or spinning my tires out the way that the bigger machines will. That's really the only difference. I don't think I would have bought an ATV if it would have cost me much more than $6k or so, so this 400 has fit the bill perfectly and exceeded my expectations for capability. Back to my entry level comment- after 2 years of riding the 400, I do crave more power, so I'm considering an upgrade, though it'll be hard to spend double the $$ to gain the very few advantages that I described of the big bore machines..

Awesome!
By Joey (I am an Owner) on Jan 02, 2013I bought mine in May of 2012. Freaking love it! Can't beat the price you pay for what you get! Loads of power, handles great, excellent stock ground clearance. Very fast, great in mud. Smooth on trails, climbs over things like nobodys business! I am super happy with it. Do not regret not getting ... the 500 one bit! If i had it to do over again, would buy it again.

Simply Awesome
By Christian (I am an Owner) on Jun 11, 2012Have had this quad for a month now and it has plenty of power. The ride is super smooth and the seat is plush! I love how it has so much cargo area for ropes and even snacks on the trail. I go trailing and mudding and it does eat up gas fairly quick. Overall it's a great quad!

Great Machine
By Ricky (I am an Owner) on Nov 15, 2011I bought my Sportsman 400 a few days ago and I love this machine. It has plenty of power and a very smooth ride. I am definitely please with the choice I made. I researched for months and compared my 400 side-by-side with multiple machines, before coming to this conclusion. Great decision. Looking ... forward to many days of fun on the trails.
