Never again
By Franz (I am an Owner) on Apr 27, 2014I own a 2009 Sportsman 400. it has giving me nothing but problems and cost money every time I bring it to the Dealer for fixing. When I bought it they were friendly as hell, now they hardly acknowledge me when I go back there.
This is the biggest piece of shit I ever bought.

Battery problems
By Eric (I am an Owner) on Feb 07, 2014I overly love this quad but in the winter if you do not store it on a warm place the battery will freeze. I have now had to change the battery 2 times once last winter and again this winter and the battery is not cheap at $150 a pop. It is very frustrating trying to get them out.

The perfect atv for shorter riders!
By Brian P. (I am an Owner) on Sep 30, 2013While the 400h.o. has a shorter frame and can be a little tricky for the over 6 ft tall crowd, the "baby sportsman" is an incredibly sophisticated little four wheeler. The 455cc engine is a really strong power plant and has proven itself for years in the 500 sportsman. The tranny, awd system, and ... the McPherson front suspension have proven themselves in other models and have redfined the industry. The anti-sway independent rear suspension is so sophisticated, I believe it will be years before anyone will come up with anything better. If you can find one...BUY IT!!!

09 sportsman 400
By Adam (I am an Enthusiast) on Feb 13, 2011Stay far away from this. It is junk. Getting to the battery will cost you a small fortune. Unless you have alot of tools, knowledge, and patience your going to have to bring it in to a dealer to replace. Worst design EVER. To top it off the "convienent jumper cables do not work. TO jump start ... it takes 2 people. Unless you have a charger and take off a bunch of plastic and can bend your hand like a contortionist you can jump it that way. Or just buy something different that would be easier

Excellent Quad
By Matt (I am an Owner) on Jul 15, 2009I bought this quad about 4 months ago and have nothing but good things to say. It has lots of power and I was surprised how well the AWD works. I have roughly 110 miles and about 4 hours on it so far. The majority of use it has is work on my property. Plenty of pulling power. It has been out ... on the trails about 5 times and has performed flawlessly. I usually ride with my friends Suzuki Eiger 400 and Yamaha bruin. The polaris is a little smaller in frame which definetly helps. However the engine on the polaris is much bigger. Overall I would definately reccomend.
