my views
By dave logan (I am an Owner) on Sep 30, 2010It's quite powerful. Had no problems going up steep hills with 2 riders.
It completely died, about an hr after "going crazy" in a sanctioned 1 foot deep pond. Had to tow home. It started right up the following week. I noted that the fuse box is completely exposed from beneath.
The ... passenger enjoys the ride when going straight but hated it when making sharp and aggressive turns.

Great Family Machines
By Joshua Gilmore (I am an Owner) on Mar 21, 2010I just picked up two of the 2009 Sportsman 500 EFI Tourings. My wife and I have two kids, 10 & 14, and these machines are great! The kids like the ride on the raised seats, great hand holds for stability on the trails and very comfortable. We live in interior Alaska and went out riding on the ... snowmobile trails that still have snow on them. The ride really impressed me, the last machine I owned was a 1989 Honda 350 Forman and there is no comparison...looks like the increase in prices was worth it.
We took these off the beaten path and plowed through about 11 inches of snow while cruising down a back frozen slough with no problems at all. Looking back at our tracks one could see where the snow was being plowed by the machine because of the depth. Both machines are bone stock at the moment and they work brilliantly. No complaints yet.
I have to say one last time, these ride so comfortably! Love them; great family machines!

Quality Machine
By Jimmy D (I am an Owner) on Jul 28, 2009I haven't had this ATV long but so far it seems like a quality ride. It's a little bigger than the standard one person but this provides more stability for two people. The suspension works very well in rough terrain and the ride forthe higher seated passenger is not scary at all. Overall, this seems ... to be a very well built machine. I can't think of any trail in Colorado that I won't be comfortable on riding the Touring 500
