While congratulations go out to Cristina Gutiérrez who, alongside her co-driver Pablo Moreno, secured the Number One title at the 2024 Dakar Rally. But the real standout this year was our own American badass, Sara Price.

During her rookie appearance in Saudi Arabia, not only did she keep us on the edge of our seats (narrowly missing a podium finish in her first year), but she became a minor legend as the only female from the USA to win a stage..

Did we mention it was her first year? Most people don't finish this rally raid, let alone accomplish so much during their introduction. True, it was a heartfelt race for Sara but, damn, it was exciting!

The UTV wars are alive and well, and you need to look no further than Polaris and Can-Am for proof. Meanwhile, although ATVs are seemingly dwindling in their presence as of late, ever-evolving (and improving) machines from the duo are keen to disprove the lack of excitement about the category. Can-Am is up to volley the next best thing into the market by releasing its 2025 models like the new Maverick R Max and Outlander 850 / 1000R. These fresh takes on classic Can-Am machines could be winning the match this time around, but we'll let you tell us what you think. Nonetheless, this is proving to be the golden age of powersports off-roaders.

Fox Racing grew from motocross racing in the 1970s when Geoff Fox formed a team of riders to compete against the factory teams. These riders used Fox’s engine and suspension components, and to make them look the part of a team, Fox created Team Moto-X Fox riding gear using bright red, yellow and orange colors. This was the birth of the Fox Racing gear clothing brand as it was a huge hit. From those beginnings, the company branched out into more Fox Racing gear, and eventually started working with riders from other teams.

We’re nearing two decades of the Canadian three-wheeled contraptions known as the Can-Am Spyder. Back in 2007, I was a few months from graduating high school when the Can-Am Spyder was cast out into the world in February of that year. It is the 1980s and your parents have the Honda ATC90’s (ATC stood for All Terrain Cycle) all loaded up in the bed of Dad’s three-quarter ton pickup, towing the 23-foot travel trailer for another great weekend in the desert or sand dunes. You spend the weekend adjusting the air pressure on the ATVs balloon tires, finding that sweet spot allowing you some feeling of suspension travel. We packed our bags expecting the usual, but Yamaha threw us a curveball with some serious upgrades. Enter the new RMAX4, now with a longer wheelbase and a major comfort boost – perfect for when you want to bring the whole squad. They didn’t stop there either with a little somethin’ for the growing (literally) ATV crowd: the Grizzly 110. This fresh-faced model borrowed the engine from the Raptor 110 which debuted in 2023, making it green sticker emissions compliant. (You’re welcome, California.)

The Adventure Forever Grants program is now accepting applications to support projects that enhance public access, promote environmental stewardship and foster sustainable outdoor recreation. These grants are designed to fund initiatives focused on land acquisition and conservation, securing access routes, developing and restoring trails, and building a community of stewards.

Some of those good people are working hand-in-hand with onX Off-Road and Tread Lightly! on their "Project 1,000" nonprofit, which recently cleaned up over 8,400 pounds of garbage from Michigan's trails. The organization's undertaking was an impressive one, with the effort in late June going beyond trash cleanup. Over 375 hours of combined labor hours invested, the initiative was also able to install 1,120 feet of protective fencing and 7 trail signs. In total, over 75 miles of trail were improved thanks to 56 volunteers.

Matthew McNulty had the chance to hop in the driver's seat of Honda Powersports "factory" upgraded Talon 1000 equipped with a turbocharger courtesy of Jackson Racing (JR). While it takes a few tweaks to fit this new system into their trusty platform perfectly, the tuning from JR is so precise that the HRC team has been rocking it for years. And now consumers, like Mr. McNulty, have the chance to rip like a racecar driver (well, almost). He had a few good things to say in his comparison, but we'll spare you the deep insights and thoughtful opinions for a few anecdotes and pretty photos by Justin W. Coffey.

The Kawasaki Ridge is a unique UTV, a rare combination of work-meets-play that just so happens to be powered by a beefy four-cylinder engine. As is the trend in the side-by-side world, it was only a matter of time before Kawasaki supplemented its two-seat Ridge with a four-seater, and that time appears to be coming for the 2025 model year. At least according to some public data recently released about Kawi's new certified lineup. And our team "decoded" the information to reach this exciting conclusion... (Let's review the evidence.)

The sport and performance UTV segment has been extremely hot over the last few years and recent news shows it isn't cooling off just yet. Instead, manufacturers are pouring more resources into the category, as is evident by Polaris' updated-for-2025 RZR Pro models and news that has come via the California Air Resources Board (CARB) that show Can-Am is expanding its Maverick R lineup even further for 2025. The documents also show that the big-bore ATV lineup has been revised, too.
