Repair shop is incompetent, two months down the tubes. Had a code 42 this summer come up on my dash of my fjr1300 which references the speed sensor. Made sense as my speedometer stopped registering MPH. Service ordered part and made my appointment. Brought bike in, had it for a day, asked me to pick ... it up, not fixed as they got the wrong part and had to order it, take a week to get. OK, so far acceptable. One week, then two weeks, why the delay? Told oh you know it's coming from California, maybe didn't get shipped promptly. Three weeks, can you check where my part is? Oh Billy ordered it, you have to speak to him, but he's busy. Fine, have him call me. Two days pass no call. I call again, still can't get to speak to Billy. Next day call a third time, and I get to speak with Billy who tells me, he has NOT ordered part because he what's me to bring in my bike when he has another fjr1300 in the shop to use as a comparison for his testing so he can figure out what the problem is. The following week we make an appointment, but it rains, so appointment is canceled, will have to reschedule when the other customer schedules his repair. Four weeks later, yes I'm a nut for entertaining this fiasco, I give up on Long Island Kawasaki-Yamaha and Billy as they never called me, and I take my bike to a Mineola dealer who same day confirms I need a speed sensor, orders it, gets it, installs it immediately and off I go. Note that the bad speed sensor plate was bent which could have caused its failure. So how does this get bent in the first place? This part during a tire change could have been mistreated. Guess who did the only tire change on my bike. Enough said. DO NOT PATRONIZE Long Island Kawasaki-Yamaha. Sincerely, Frank
