BRP has been announced as the newest OEM exhibitor to sign on for the 2015 American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) in Orlando, Fla., which takes place October 15-18.

BRP will feature its Can-Am ATV and UTV lineup at the show, as well as it’s Can-Am Spyder three-wheeler, Ski-Doo snowmobile, and Sea-Doo watercraft families.

It looks like a new ATV is in works from BRP for 2016 – the Can-Am Outlander MAX 1000 6X6 XT.

All we know about the vehicle is that it was certified by the California Air Resources Board ( click here to see the document) and features the same 976cc Rotax engine found in the rest of the Outlander 1000 family. According to the certification document, the engine produces 82 horsepower.

BRP’s Can-Am ATVs and UTVs will be sporting new Mossy Oak camouflage this year after the two companies partnered up for a marketing agreement.

“You’d be hard-pressed to find a hunter or land owner that doesn’t own an ATV or side-by-side vehicle. These vehicles have become a necessary tool for outdoors people,” says Chris Paradise, sr. vice president and chief sales officer for Mossy Oak. “With the addition of Mossy Oak to the tough and powerful Can-Am off-road line-up, the best of concealment and performance are combined for the must-have, all-terrain vehicle.”

Can-Am ATV and side-by-side racers competed at the 2014 Heartland Challenge endurance race, winning three classes. As well, Can-Am riders earned podium finishes in the Best in the Desert Series Vegas To Reno race and round eight of the New England ATV Motocross series.

“Our team of Can-Am ATV and side-by-side racers had a busy-but-successful weekend across the US. The Murrays earned a hard-fought third-place finish in a very difficult Vegas-to-Reno race while our other sibling teams, in the Pratts and Millers, notched big wins in Iowa,” says Jeff Leclerc, Racing Project Leader, Can-Am. “From endurance racing in Iowa and the Nevada desert to motocross in Maine, our racers again proved Can-Am is an excellent choice for serious competitors.”

ATV and UTV riders who are keeping their hands warm with Can-Am branded heated gloves may need to return them as some models are being recalled. According to the recall notice, the glove’s lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack can overheat, posing a fire hazard.

The gloves are only available in black and are sold with two lithium-ion rechargeable batteries and a charger. The gloves have either”ski-doo” or “can-am” on the pointer finger and on the wrist band of each glove. Both gloves come in size XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL. The battery pack is located on the zipped pouch on the wrist of each glove.

BRP has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Querétaro, Mexico. This facility assemble Rotax engines for BRPs Can-Am off-road vehicles and assemble the Sea-Do Spark watercraft and manufacturer composite hulls decks for Sea-Doo watercraft. By 2015, the entire Sea-Doo watercraft line-up will be produced in the Querétaro facility.

Once completed, the project will represent an investment of approximately US$958 million (C$100 million) and should employ some 1,100 people by 2015. As we reported in May of 2012, BRP estimated moving of PWC assembly to Mexico affected about 500 employees in Quebec.

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is working to become a publicly owned and traded company. BRP has filed a preliminary prospectus with the necessary securities regulatory bodies in Canada for a proposed initial public offering of subordinate voting shares. Should things go according to plan, non-controlling shares of the company will be available on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The Financial Post reports BRP hopes to raise CN$250 million (US$243 million).

BRP produces many different kinds of vehicles including snowmobiles, watercraft, ATVs, side-by-sides and the Can-Am Spyder Roadster. The company controls several brands including Can-Am, Sea-Doo, Ski-Doo, and Rotax.

Motoworks / Can-Am pro racer Josh Frederick suffered a serious back injury after crashing during the Pro ATV race Sunday at round three of the World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Medical crews were on the scene quickly and, after complaining of the loss of feeling to his legs, he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. Further examination revealed that Frederick’s T-5 vertebrae was fractured during the violent crash. Frederick was then flown to a level-one trauma center in Las Vegas for additional examinations and surgery.

Frederick underwent surgery Sunday evening to remove the piece of bone lodged in his spine and his back was fused. The surgery was successful and Frederick is now resting comfortably at the hospital. He did not regain feeling to his legs after the surgery and due to the amount of swelling it is not currently possible to determine a time frame for potential recovery or paralysis. Josh has been fitted with a back brace and on Tuesday he will start therapy.

“Josh is such a wonderful person, a devoted father and husband and a dedicated professional racer. While it deeply saddens me to learn of the severity of this injury, I also know that Josh is an extremely hard worker, a fighter and a true champion, I pray that he will persevere and overcome this challenge,” says Jimmie O’Dell, race manager, Can-Am. “Josh and his family are in the thoughts and prayers of everyone at BRP and the entire Can-Am racing family.”

Former AMA ATV Motocross National Champion Josh Creamer has announced that he will be returning to the AMA ATV MX Series for 2013 racing for Team BCS/ Can-Am. Creamer will be using ITP tires throughout the 2013 race season.

Creamer dominated the 2010 ATV MX Nationals for his first major title, and then competed on the West Coast in 2011. He moved closer to his native New England for the 2012 season and won both the Pro and Pro-Am championships in the highly competitive NEATV MX Series.

“Team BCS/Can-Am and I are really excited for the 2013 AMA season,” says Creamer. “With ITP and their great new product on board, this is going to be a great year!”
