Kawasaki adds to the KRX 1000 family

Kawasaki has added a pair of new models to the KRX 1000 lineup – the 2021 Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 Trail Edition and Special Edition.

Both of the new additions share the same features as the original KRX 1000, along with some factory installed accessories and different colors and graphics.

Before we look at what sets the two new models apart from the base KRX 1000, let’s take a look at some of the key similarities. All KRX 1000 machines are powered by a 999cc parallel twin engine that is paired with a CVT transmission and centrifugal clutch that controls 112.6 horsepower. Kawasaki also equips each model with a rigid frame and integrated Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS). FOX 2.5 Podium LSC shocks are found on all four corners and works with long suspension arms to provide 19 inches of travel up front and 21 inches out back.

The KRX 1000 Trail Edition offers a number of upgrades, but what stands out the most are new tubular front and rear bumpers and Nerf bars that run along the sides to add extra protection branches, rocks and whatever other trail debris you happen to come across. Both the bumpers and Nerf bars feature a bright neon yellow powder coating, which matches the A-arms.

A KQR Sport roof with quick release capabilities is also found on the Trail Edition. This lightweight roof offers occupants a little protection from the sun and is made of semi-rigid black textured plastic. The Sport roof can be quickly removed without tools and comes with pre-configured mounts to allow up to six accessory LED dome lights.

When the going gets tough, the KRX 1000 Trail Edition is ready to help with a standard Warn VRX 45 powersports winch. This winch has 50 feet of 1/4″ steel rope, load-holding roller-disc brake, three-stage planetary gear train, all-metal construction, waterproof sealing for the motor and drivetrain, illuminated dash-mounted rocker control switch, and corded remote. The winch has a capacity of 4500 pounds.

Completing the KRX 1000 Trail Edition package are a new low voltage warning in the LCD display, and a durable Fragment Camo Gray immersion graphics finish over top of the black base coloring. Throw in those neon yellow accents we talked about earlier and this vehicle is bound to stand out on the trail.

Retail price is $22,999 – a $2500 premium over the base KRX 1000.

The 2021 Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000 Special Edition takes a different approach, as this package is built around a high-grade Hifonics audio system. Included in this system are two 6.5-inch two-way waterproof door speakers, 12-inch subwoofer mounted behind the seats, 0.75-inch titanium dome tweeter, and stereo unit built into center console. This unit is a Bluetooth/AM/FM 600 watt five-channel stereo with a high-contrast color LED screen that can display album art. You can add rear pod speakers separately for even bigger sound.
