Yamaha recalls Grizzly 550 and 700 ATVs

Steering column support assembly at issue

Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A., in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a recall for about 20,000 Grizzly 550 and 700 ATVs.

The recall, which affects 2008-2010 Grizzly 550 and 700 models (non power steering models) was issued because the steering column support assembly can crack which can cause a rider to lose steering control. This recall involves the non-power steering models. Model names can be found on both the right and left hand side of the unit on the side panel.The following model numbers are affected by this recall:

Yamaha has received 19 reports of incidents involving the recalled ATVs, but no injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact their local Yamaha dealer to schedule a free repair. Registered owners were sent direct mail notification of the recall.

The ATVs were sold at Yamaha dealers nationwide from October 2007 through March 2010 for between $7,000 and $9,500.
