Tire maker aiming to help amateur racer

GBC Tires has announced it will offer $136,500 in Contingency for ATV competitors in the 2009 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series.

“These are the people that buy tires, the people who race in the woods and ride in the woods so there is not a better fit for an ATV rider than GNCC,” says Kevin Johnston, national accounts manager for GBC Motor Sports. “GNCC is a series that has always been there and supported the sport, so why not give back to the series that does that?”

The GBC program is aimed toward the amateur racer who needs the extra support. The XC2 class race winner will receive $300 followed by $250 for second, and $200 for third. The GBC program also offers contingency for youth and utility classes, as well as a variety of amateur classes.

The 2009 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series begins with The Parts Unlimited River Ranch in River Ranch, Fla. on February 28- March 3.
