Youth ATVs from Arctic Cat, Kawasaki and KYMCO have all been recalled by the US Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC).

All of the recalled vehicles were manufactured in Taiwan and all of the recalls were voluntary. Approximately 13,700 vehicles have been recalled, but no incidents or injuries have been reported.

For Arctic Cat, the speed controller on the sporty 2008 DVX 50 and DVX 90 and utility 2008 50 and 90 could fail to be at idle on start up, which could result in loss of vehicle control.

About 6,000 units are affected by the recall. These ATVs were sold by Arctic Cat dealers between July 2007 and June 2008 for between $1,800 and $2,400.

Consumers are asked to stop using these ATVs immediately and contact their local dealer to schedule a free repair. For more information, contact Arctic Cat at (800) 279-6851 or visit http://www.arctic-cat.com/.

For Kawasaki, about 6,000 2008 KFX 50 and KFX 90 youth ATVs have been recalled because the throttle can fail to return to the idle position when released or could fail to be at idle on start-up, which could result in loss of vehicle control.

These ATVs were sold by Kawasaki dealers between August 2007 and June 2008 for about $1,750 (KFX 50) and $2,200 (KFX 90).

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact any authorized dealer to schedule a free repair. For more information, contact Kawasaki at (866) 802-9381 or visit http://www.kawasaki.com/.

For KYMCO, about 1,700 2008 Mongoose 50cc, 70cc and 90cc youth ATVS have been recalled because of a manufacturing defect in the carburetor that can cause the throttle to stick open.

These ATVs were sold by KYMCO dealers from August 2007 to June 2008 for between $1,700 and $2,100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact any authorized KYMCO dealer to schedule a free repair. For more information, contact KYMCO USA at (888) 235-3417 or visit http://www.kymcousa.com/.
