On September 07, 2023, ARGO announced a recall of approximately 500 Xplorer ATVs in the United States and an additional 1,670 units in Canada. The reason for the recall is the incorrect installation of check valves and vent hoses, which can result in fuel overflow, presenting a fire hazard.

The specific models affected by this recall are the ARGO Xplorer XR 500 and XRT 500 from model years 2020 and 2021, and the XR 570 and XRT 570 from model years 2021 through 2023. These ATVs were available in various colors, including green, red, white, black, blue, and graphite. To determine if an ATV is part of the recall, owners can check the VIN plate located in the right-front wheel well on the vehicle's frame. The 10th character in the VIN indicates the model year: L for 2020, M for 2021, N for 2022, and P for 2023. Additionally, the model name and package details can be found on the side decals of the ATV.

Consumers who own these ATVs are advised to cease using them immediately. ARGO is in the process of reaching out to all known purchasers with instructions. They are directing owners to contact an authorized ARGO ATV dealer for a complimentary inspection and necessary repairs to the fuel system. During the repair, the dealer will inspect the vent system, adjust and extend the vent hose, and install a fuel neck insert.

To date, there have been two reported incidents of fuel overflow, with one of these incidents resulting in a fire. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with these incidents.

These ATVs were sold at ARGO ATV dealers across the country from July 2019 to July 2023, with prices ranging between $6,800 and $11,300. The importer of these ATVs is ARGO USA Inc., based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. The ATVs were manufactured in Taiwan.
