2013 Polaris Ranger 500 EFI

Polaris Industries has initiated a recall of the Ranger 500 EFI and the four-seater Ranger Crew 500 EFI because of a risk of the throttle cable melting. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, heat from the exhaust pipe may damage the cable, causing a loss of throttle control. Polaris has received one report of a throttle failing to return to idle after accelerating. The operator lost control and was thrown from the Ranger, scraping a shin. The CPSC advises consumers to stop using the recalled vehicle and contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Consumers will also be provided inspection instructions if they wish to perform the check for themselves. Polaris is also contacting customers directly to alert them about the recall. The recall affects 16,550 units with a VIN between 4XA******DE210149 and 4XA******DE791730 (not all VINs within that range are affected.) Consumers may contact Polaris toll-free at (888) 704-5290 or online at www.polarisindustries.com.
