Broken axle in final race made things interesting

Chris Blais finished the final round of the WORCS Series in Mesquite, Nev. in his UTV race with a broken axle to take the UTV Class 1 Championship and fifth overall for the series.

“I went into this last round at Mesquite wanting to win and needing to finish to take the points championship for UTV 1,” says Blais. “After taking the lead on the first lap, my co-driver Preston and I started to pull away and were having a great race. We were charging pretty hard to get a gap on the rest of the drivers and we ended up breaking an axle at the end of the second lap. I slowed down on the third lap to try and adjust to my ill-handling Polaris RZR, but then we started to get back up to speed. We finished in about 8th Place Overall, 3rd Place in Class 1 and still finished on the lead lap.

“It was a great course set-up and I can’t wait to get back out racing again next year in the WORCS Series. My Polaris RZR will get a complete overhaul this winter and will be ready for the 2011 season. Thank you to all of my awesome sponsors that help me out.”

Blais finished first four of the five rounds he raced in the WORDS series. He plans on running more events next year to go for the UTV Overall Championship.

Up next for Blais is the Searchlight Grand Prix on Saturday, Nov. 13 in Searchlight, Nev.
