Kirkland, Atwell win, McGill finishes second

The FRE/KTM ATV GNCC team had another successful weekend with all three team riders landing on the podium, two of them earning a win.

Adam McGill finished second in the XC-1 class. He led for the first half of the race before Chris Borich caught up and the two began an epic battle that would last through the end of the race. Borich was able to inch McGill out for the win by just two seconds.

“We went back and forth so many times. That was the most fun I had racing in quite a while,” says McGill.

Josh Kirkland holds the first-place trophy.
Angel Atwell earned her fifth win of the season.

In the XC-2 class Josh Kirkland grabbed the holeshot and began to pull out front. He was challenged early on by Bryan Wolf. The two riders actually hooked up in the pits when Kirkland accidentally collided into him – thinking Wolf was not going to pit.

“I didn’t mean to hit him but I thought he was still charging forward,” says Kirkland.

When the checkered flag flew Kirkland took the win with Wolf finishing second.

“It felt great to get another win and help move myself ahead in the points,” says Kirkland.

Topping the weekend off, Women’s Pro rider Angel Atwell was able to take her fifth win in the Women’s class. She had a great start and a smooth ride to easily take the win over second place finisher Lexie Coulter and the third place ride of Kristen Atwell.
