Minnesota team to compete in WPSA series

Rath Racing will be riding on Polaris ATV machines for the 2008 World Powersports Association (WPSA) series.

Daryl Rath and his Hutchinson, Minn. team will all be riding Polaris vehicles in the WPSA series, along with a few other select events.

“Polaris is a company with a new sport quad that is serious about racing,” says Rath. “After a few meetings with them I realized that with both engineering and marketing involved with this racing effort, their long-term race plans and with my years of experience, I knew we could build a winning team”

Rath has previous experience riding for Polaris and the Medina, Minn. manufacturer is happy to have his 26 years of racing experience on board.

“Polaris is extremely excited to be bringing Rath aboard for 2008,” says Justin Burke of Polaris ATV marketing. “It is our first full effort in the WPSA and Daryl brings a ton of experience and success with him. With his team on the Outlaw 450 MXR and the Sportsman, it gives us a huge opportunity to show that Polaris is serious about winning and that our machines are contenders.”

Rath will compete in both sport and utility classes. He has earned four national championships, two international championships and 38 state/district championships in his pro racing career. He also won the first ever Quad Terrain Challenge (QTC) championship. In 2008 Rath will ride a Sportsman in QTC, an Outlaw 525 in Supermoto and Cross Country and a Ranger RZR in select side-by-side events.

Also riding for Rath Racing in the pro classes are Landon Hurst and Brock Lyons. Hurst comes from the west coast ITP series and will be competing in Pro MX and Pro Supermoto. Lyons, who has WPSA experience, will compete in Pro MX.

“I am thrilled to be part of the first and only American manufactured ATV motocross race team,” says Lyons.
