Textron Off Road Havoc X Preview + Video
There is a new player in the multi-purpose UTV market – the Textron Off Road Havoc X. At least on paper, this machine looks like a direct competitor to the Polaris General.
The Textron Off Road Havoc X (MSRP starts at $17,299) is powered by a 953cc Twin cylinder engine that produces a claimed 100 horsepower. Other specs include 67 ft-lb of torque, 13 inches of ground clearance, 12.9 inches of rear suspension ravel, 12.8 inches of front suspension travel, King 2.5-inch piggyback shocks, 600-pound dumping bed, 2,000 pounds of towing capacity and 4,000-pound WARN winch.
Here is what Textron Off Road has to say about the new Havoc X, which will be is slated to be officially released on December 1, 2017:
The all-new 2018 Havoc X from Textron Off Road is a high-performance side-by-side flexing a hardcore work ethic and hair-raising wild streak. An all-conquering crossover, it blends class-leading suspension and ground clearance with enormouspayload and towing capacities, all reinforced by the smile-inducing glory of 100-horsepower and 67-ft.-lbs. of torque.
In Short: a Havoc side-by-side will conquer the backcountry as comfortably as it will handle the back forty. It will tame the trails and transport trophy game.
This machine bullies its way to the top of the crossover category with a class-leading double-A-arm suspension package delivering 12.8 and 12.9 inches of front and rear suspension travel. Premium 2.5-in. aluminum King shocks provide race-proven features like piggyback reservoirs and 30-position compression adjustability for maximum performance, whether it’s crawling over rocks or pounding through bumps. Front and rear swaybars reduce body roll and keep handling smooth and predictable.
The bump-swallowing suspension performance is matched by the 13 inches of class leading ground clearance. Fully-loaded, it boasts upwards of 18 percent more ground clearance than the competition, with 9.5/8.375 inches of front/rear clearance to ride over anything in its way.
When duty calls, a Havoc UTV gets the job done with a 600-lb. capacity rear dump bed that’s aided by the quick and simple Fast-N-Latch bed accessory storage system. Its signature extended cab contributes to the nearly 24-cu.-ft. of added storage that’s easily accessed and substantially useful. A 2,000-lb. towing capacity adds even greater versatility for any job.
Yet there’s no mistaking that a Havoc side-by-side is engineered to deliver heart-pounding thrills with 100 horsepower on tap whenever it’s playtime. That power comes fast and furious thanks to the 957cc SOHC twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled EFI engine that is designed and built by Textron. It feeds its 100 horsepower and 67-ft.-lbs. of torque to a smooth and durable CVT system.
The selectable on-demand AWD system puts the power exactly where it’s needed, while four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes with 9-in. rotors and dual piston calipers deliver enhanced braking performance. Tough 14-in. cast aluminum wheels are matched by burly 28-in. ITP Ultracross tires for outstanding traction and performance.
A Havoc UTV is especially impressive when it comes to occupant comfort, with two-tone bucket seats that offer 4 inches of adjustability and that are easily accessed via full impact- and corrosion-resistant doors boasting a large 10-sq.-ft. opening. The cab is equally spacious, with a full 40 inches between the ROPS cage and the seat for wide and unobstructed views, with 31 inches between the instrument panel and the seatback for maximum comfort. The dash features an industry-leading 5.25 x 3.25-in. LCD display with adjustable backlighting. And high power LED headlights deliver optimum visibility, with LED accent lights for a touch of custom style.
Additional features include Electronic Power Steering (EPS), the extra range of 9.5 gallons of fuel capacity, standard 2-in. receiver hitch; a 4,000-lb. WARN winch; 12v and USB accessory outlets; passenger grab handle; glove box; steel front brush guard; and adjustable tilt steering.
Every Havoc side-by-side comes in Dynamic Grey and boasts a 12-month warranty. It’s proudly built in Thief River Falls, Minn., and will be available at Textron Off Road dealerships beginning in December.
