Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, recently held its annual Yamaha Racing GNCC University. The event, conducted in partnership with the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) racing series, took place at the Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia. Close to a hundred students were in attendance to receive technical riding instruction, learn about proper nutrition and race preparation, and practice their ATV and motorcycle skills alongside current and past Yamaha champions and racers.

The student body was composed of up-and-coming racers who learned from an impressive faculty including Walker Fowler, Mark Notman, Johnny Gallagher, Hunter Hart, Jessica Elioff, Josh Merritt, Randy Hawkins, Zach Osborne, Rachel Archer, Ricky Russell, Jason Raines, and others. Despite the challenging wet and muddy conditions at Snowshoe Mountain, all students successfully completed the training and were awarded their official Yamaha Racing GNCC University diploma.

Following the university, the ninth round of the 2023 GNCC season was held at Snowshoe. Brycen Neal won the overall XC1 Pro – ATV championship on his Phoenix Racing / Moose YFZ450R, while Jessica Elioff took the overall win in the morning race and now leads the WXC – ATV field with five class wins.

As the season continues, Yamaha bLU cRU racers are currently leading in several GNCC ATV classes. In the ATV Motocross series, three-time champion Joel Hetrick is leading the field and AMA Pro class. Yamaha Side-by-Side racing has also had a strong start this year with Kyle Anderson winning the Pro Stock N/A UTV championship at King of the Hammers.

In the Championship Off-Road Tour, held its second round in Crandon, Wisconsin, bLU cRU racer Owen Van Eperen won Sunday’s Pro Stock SxS race. After five of nine rounds at the Great American Short Course Series, bLU cRU racer Chad Williams currently holds the third-overall position in the Production 1000 class.

Yamaha's educational and racing events continue to cultivate and celebrate racing talent across various series and platforms.
